Hello, I've been hearing a lot about these little chaps, and I'm considering starting an OK army, but I can't find any mention of them in my army book. Is there a simple explanation or am I being a plank? The latter I assume to be more likely. Cheers.

They're not in the book, they are Forgeworld models. The rules for them were listed in White Dwarf as the "Ironskin" tribe (I think that was the name), there's a pdf floating around for them somewhere.

Ah ok, would they be eligible for use at a GT then?

I seem to remember them not being legal for a GT. I'm thinking that was last year. I don't know about this year. I guess you need to check. B)

That's a link to a PDF about them. Point layouts and stats and all that good stuff.
Also. I seem to remeber reading somewhere that they are NOT allowed at GTs "anymore".

The official GW GTs have forbidden them this year, but thankfully in the US that's less than half of the good GTs! Check out www.indygt.com to see a ton of other great independent events. My favorites are the Colonial and the Crossroads GTs, both of which do allow Rhinox for Ogre Kingdoms.

Doesn't have to be. There are lots of good independent events in the UK too. Check out the following link:

I can’t guarantee how many will allow the Rhinox, but I figure some of them must. It’s not like they make Ogre Kingdoms overpowered or anything. And allowing them lets people use their cool toys.

there's only one other problem that i see with Rhinox Riders. that is the fact that unless you take them in an Ironskin army they count as a rare AND a special choise.

As an OK player I find it very hard to max out my Special Choices at 2k and 2250, and if I'm going to add Rhinox to my list the first thing that's going to drop in order to pay for them would be the single unit of Yhetee's I run at 2250.

Do you have to make all your own riders(that would be very expensive $$) or can you buy a kit from somewhere? Those guys would be an awesome addition to my dwarfs. I need some good strong cavalry!

Do you think it would be worth all the hassle to build your own or get the kits? Has anyone on here used them before? Are they worth the points cost? Also are they 145 or 100 pts. a model? And thank you for the link!

building them yourself might cost just as much (or more even, though the GBP is still practically twice that of the USD) but would be much more fun to do rather than just grab the Forge World models. there is a pretty easy looking one in the PDF rules/backround at the bottem of page three using the Rhinox from the Scrap Launcher.
i have neither seen nor heard of them being played, but if you want to chew up some points and special/rare (for regular Ogres) or two rare spots (as is their case for DoW) then go for it. a decent unit will run more than 400 points for just three but they look and sound like they have some real hitting power. three would have a unit strength of twelve (fourteen if you have atleast one Bull Rhinox). and with three attacks for the rider and the Rhinox itself, one more each for a Thunder Lord or a Bull Rhinox, with D3 impact hit at 7" or more will do a lot of damage. i think they look good, but maybe before commiting to the models or the time to make them, try a few games, subbing in some other cavalry or something to see how they work out.

And thank you for the link! yeah, the rhinox worth all the trouble of making them/buy them from FW. Personally, I made 3 100 points rhinox riders using the rhinox from the scraplauncher, plastic ogres and a saw, and my lovely wife give to me a full 3 rhinox unit from forgeworld two years ago for christmas. I usually go with two units of them for 2000 points games, one unit is one giant rhinox, and the other is a 2-3 normal rhinox. Normally they die, but they sacrifice let me cross all the way with my ironguts and bulls without being shot at all. The ogres really need the rhinox to be competitive.
