just one quick question, for my chaos i have two units of 8 termies with three powerfists. would it be a better idea to take two chainfists instead of three powerfists? now this would be done purely so that any vehicles i do manage to charge will probably have at least one or two pens since they'll be hitting with 2D6 armor pen. i wanna know what you guys think, three PF's two chain fists

Chain fists are not worth the points. I once had a game with my DW versus IG armored company and the CF ate the tanks alive but other than that it was not an advantage. However from a modeling perspective they look very good.

Bastirous666,

What else is in your list for AT purposes and what else is the Terminator squad carrying? If you have alot of AT and want to use the Terminators primarily for counter-assault, I would take the three powerfists. If you plan on deepstriking them to cause maximum carnage, I would strongly considering taking the chainfists since multiple assaults should be possible in that situation. But again, it depends on the rest of their kit. Are any of them carrying combimeltas? Give me a little more context and I can give better advice.

Take care,
Mike K.

Chainfists are quite valuable. However, never sacrifice more powerfists for chainfists. Find those extra 5 points somewhere else.

If the question is three PFs vs two CFs, I have to say go with the three PFs. They’re more broadly useful; the Chainfists really only have the advantage against AV14, and then only if it’s not a Monolith. Against everything else, three PFs will be better.

That said, if it were me, I agree with Darkness. I’d try to scrounge the extra points to UPGRADE one of those PFs to a chainfist. I run three termies in a squad, with heavy flamer, two combi plasmas, and a single chainfist. In that application, with just one fist, I like having the extra penetrating power. But when dealing with multiples, and given the points investment you’ve already made on the squad, I think you want to maximize the number of S8 attacks.

I'm going to agree with the two posters above - taking one Chainfist per unit is good, but since they're specialized about vehicles, more than one tends to be a waste of points.

well see i only have the PF's in the squads for anti tank purposes and the chain fists would definitely beat them in that role. also i don't really need more than two PF equivalents to kill anything T4 with more than one wound and MC's.

to answer the questions of those who wanted to know the termies other armaments they only have combi-bolters and one reaper each unit. that's why i included the PF's so that the termies could then deal with any vehicles, and i now realized fore the same pts i could get two chain fists which do the job better.

In that case, I have to agree with Mannahnin. If you can find the points elsewhere in your list to upgrade them, I would. Otherwise, the extra powerfist would probably prove more useful in the long run. I'd have to run the numbers but I think the extra powerfist makes up the difference against vehicles compared to the two chain fists.

but it really doesn't especially with how vehicle damage is now confirmed to be done by my local GW reps and even some out of town ones. they say that glancing a vehicle can no longer destroy it as the damage chart will work much like how apocalypse does, glances deducting two from the roll on the table, meaning the ability to pen AV 14 with the termies would be nice, and they make it to the enemy tanks in more games than not
