Excellent review from TWF:
http://warhammer.org.uk/PhP/viewtopic.php?t=42606
IMHO nurgle is not quite as bad as he is making out, a 6+ AS, 5+ ward save and with a herald a 4+ regen is pretty damned tough anvil in any army...

i looked at this new book last time i was at GW and i must say, they all look pretty nasty. i do agree with you in that Nurgle looks just as mean as the Khorne Daemons. both are pretty darn good for just twelve points!

Nurgle is one strong anvil unit. Use them and you'll be amazed!
It seems the Daemonettes have seen their better days.

I've been running the numbers the last few days since I got the book and when you follow the designer's notes and try to do a mixed army you struggle to fit in everything you want.
ATM I'm working on 3000pt armies and am finding for characters (mixed lists) its either:
2 GD
1 GD and 2 heralds
6 heralds.
This then allows enough points for 4 full command and icon 15 strong core units, and a good mix of special and rare, without too much emphasis on one particular god.
At 2000 or 2250 I think it will either be 1 GD and 1 herald or 4 heralds.

I'm liking the look of multi-herald armies. The greater daemons are REALLY expensive if you load them up, and you still don't get much in the way of magic defense out of them.
I think I'm going to build around:
2 Heralds of Tzeentch (or 1 & the Blue Scribes)
2 Heralds of Slaanesh (or 1 and The Masque)
1 BIG block of horrors (lvl 3 or 4)
2-3 small blocks of Daemonettes (12 or so)
Mix-'n-match special/rare (but trying to keep roughly equal between Tzeentch & Slaanesh).
Not sure how it'll play out - it relies on magic (but doesn't have tremendous amounts of it) and speed; there's very little strength in the army.

The killer for comp at tourneys is OTT magic. Pure Tzeentch is way too OTT- but its the only way you could acctually hurt your enemy.
I'm looking at full mix to allow a tzeentch herald for the dispel croll equivalent, but khorne and slaanesh would be the best army to suit my playing style- highly aggressive.

normally i shy away from khorne in gneral, but i think my general for 2ooo points will be the obsidian thirster, it just really looks good to me. im very used to spending a quarter plus of my points into a lord, as i play lizardmen too.

The big kick in the teeth for opponents is the loss of frenzy from khorne, previouly you would bait and flee them ad nauseum, now they will be much harder to divert and much more under control by their owner, however the loss of the extra attack will be great for those of us facing khorne daemons.

yeah, the loss of frenzy kinda makes bloodletters look less apealing. T3 and only a 5+ ward really doesnt do it for me, i think the majority of my core will be filled out with plaguebearers and a few horror units.

No Frenzy, sure, but Hatred (through inclusion of a Herald) will still be nasty on high-strength Killing Blow dudes.
