Is there anything stopping you from taking an Inquisitor Lord from the Witch Hunters codex, and taking an allied Inquisitor Lord from the Demonhunters codex?

Not as far as I can see. [Edit: That is, there's nothing stopping you.] The only limitation is "0-1 Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Lord" (pg. 26), isn't it?

You talking as allies to someone? Cause DHunters and Whunters can't take each other as allies. Off the top of my head I would guess that you can't take units from both dexes as allies to a 3rd codex's force, but I don't have my =I= dexes with me atm, so thats JUST a guess...

Your guesses are worthless. If guesses were what Blackmoor wanted, he could just guess himself, surely? WH can take DH allies. Fact. There's nothing stopping them from taking a DH Lord specifically. Also fact.

seriously though... I hate special characters and how most games include them now... I hope GW decides to stop making the game Herohammer 40k...

I would disagree that it's "herohammer" per se, because they don't dominate the whole game. What they really are is more of a "no brainer" HQ choice, because they are usually much better and cheaper then their regular HQ equivalent. Eldar vs Farseer, and Lemartes vs Regular BA Chappy for starters.

She flies around. She's got a flamer. She makes Seraphim (or anything) Fearless. But she is definately a wackload of points.

special characters are awesome anyway like yarrok vs gazghull in the madusa campain. if there were no special characters then there would be no campaigns

Per the DH FAQ, Inquisitor Lord Cortez and BC Stern do not count toward the 0-1 HQ limit. So you should be able to take one tooled up IQL and Cortez.
