Dont you think this guys a bit overcosted?

I mean the avatar is 155 points while bloodthister is 250 and all he gets is like 1 more str and flight, and looses inmunity fo melta weapons, and the melta shoot

and the flamers 35 points for guys with BS 4, ok 2 attacks but they are not meant for close combat, for the same points i can allmost filed 2 horrors which will perform better and be a troop choice. They got the tear attack whih is not that bad not allowing AS and wounding allways on 4+but if you get close for that its sure you are going to battle CC and you will get outperformed

A Bloodthirster is well worth 250. 1 more str, flight, and furious charge is a good deal to me instead of immunity to melta and the 12" melta shot. Not to mention for 5 pts you get a 2+ inv save against psyker powers that cause wounds and force weapons.

As for flamers. Having a template weapon that always wounds on a 4+, ignores armor and cover, on a critter that can either deepstrike in or move 12" over terrain is well worth it. It is rare that they do not earn back their points for me, and until 5th edition, they are pretty nice way of dealing with vehicles. They make a great suicide unit or combo with something fast that can them tie up the survivors of the Breath attack.

They are worth their points.

Never attribute to malice which can rightly be explained by stupidity.

Put it this way: I would easily pay those points to get my Avatar in the air. Flight is golden, and those other bonuses are decidedly non-trivial.

Regarding the Flamers, the idea is that after the flaming's done, there'll be little left to assault.

The bloodthirster is a little better than you are giving him credit for. bloodthirster has +1 St, +1 attack, furious charge which really helps because it means instant death for unsaved wounds on T:4 guys. The wings are also very important.

Have you faced the flamers yet? I have faced them 3 times with the new codex and they are great. 105 points for 3 that will almost always earn their points back. Put them in the second wave and drop them in as close as possible off the icon nearest your opponent and watch hilarity ensue.

just a 3 guys units would be worth it?

Why not?

They will, most certainly put a real hurt on anything they fire on.

Basically just think of the flamers as a suicide unit. Pick a place where you can deep strike in (preferably close to an icon), triple flame a unit that should allow you to kill more than 105 points worth of models, or triple auto-glance an expensive vehicle (don't forget that they can do that) or hit a bunch of guys standing next to a vehicle and get the guys and auto glance the vehicle on top of it. It's really not that hard to get them to pay for themselves so if they get killed by return fire it's ok. And if they don't get wiped out then rinse and repeat.

I've been pondering a Kairos and 3 sets of maxed out Flamers list. Notion is that his reroll shields them and then you fly towards the foe, sweeping all before you with ~20 of those flamer templates.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

How many points is a flying Avatar worth, who can attack at S8 (instakill Marines)?

Flamers are the swiss army knife of daemons. they can efficently kill any infantry unit and give vehicles a bad day. having seen the daemon codex played a few times and having played it myself I think they are possibly the best non MC, non IC unit in the army.

And if the bloodthirster is over- priced it's got to be the only thing in the codex that is; just look at the point costs for skulltaker. a charachter that rends on a 4+ w/ WS 7, FC, 3+/5+ sv, can't be insta-killed- all for about as many points as marine commander? Rending would have to seriously nerfed in order for him to be balanced.
