If i select Tigurius to lead a HQ squad of marines, and then give the marines infiltrate, i can buy infiltrate for tigurius as well right. even though it says in his entry that i may not select items from the armory i should still be allowed to upgrade him with infiltrate. after all...
1) infiltrate is not being selected from the armory, it is coming from the command squad entry pg29
2) the entry on pg 29 says these skills may be purchased for all models including leading and attached characters.
what do you think

Off the top of my head, I'd say no, as special characters can't be given any additional wargear - I'd assume this covered vet skills as well. I don't feel like going to get the codex off the back of the toilet to check for sure, though, because:

Come August-Spetemberish, it will probably be a moot point. You can bet dollars to donuts that the infiltrating command squad is el-goodbye-o. So if you're just retooling your already existing Ultrasmurfs, knock yourself out, but if you're planning a new army around an infiltrating Tigurius... I'd hang on for the new 'dex.

There is no rule that says that Special Characters may not be given additional Wargear... just the one in their entries that says they may not select items from the Armoury.

Either way, it's not a problem, as Veteran Skills are neither Wargear nor selected from the Armoury.

So yes, Tigurius can be given Infiltrate along with the squad.

Not directed just at you personally, DeathGod, but this is a trend on the forums at the moment that is getting rather irritating.

If people are asking a rules question, there's a good chance it's because they would like an answer. Can we all just stop with the 'Don't worry about it, it will change in a couple of months' answers to every damn question?

People aren't going to stop playing for 3 months just because there are new rules coming.

if it is one squad and he cannot leave then i wouldnt have a problem, but if he can leave and its not a ret then i would say no.

you cant give IC abilities from a squad thats not his.

A Vet Squad wouldn't be.
A Command Squad, which is what the question was asking about, is most definitely a retinue.

It's one of the options in their entry, yes.

ahh then i see no reason why tigarius couldnt infiltrate. as long as no where in either units rules does it deny it because hes a special/independent char.

I think this thread is a very good example of learning to actually read or even have a basic knowledge of the rules surrounding a question being asked before you answer it.
