Dont let my name confuse you, i have recently been converted to the ruinous forces and wanted an HQ that stood out among my army so i got to work on a lord. eventually he will have a more adaquate demon weapon, like a sword of fire but until then he keeps the axe.

i really havn't looked for too many other models with disc of tzeentchs but i want a more mechanical old piece of machinary, not a disc of pure energy or something like that. the only problem i have is that he has one foot up on a rock that im going to have to GS to make it look like a step or something.

sorry but its a camera phone....

heres just the disc, its a medium base upside down with a washer on top. a small line of Gs between and some of the bajillion spikes you get with a vehicle in between. i think i need to fill the middle in, but i want it to look like a machine, not a solid piece of metal. kinda like the top and bottom spin independently and the spikes dont move.

any ideas?

Yay, your first reply! Too bad it's taken half a year for someone to give a damn...

First off, realize that Tzeentch is all about magic, so you may want to incorporate that into the disc somehow, while still retaining the feel of ancient technology.

First things first: the pose. Since the lord's pose is based on him stepping up onto something, you might repose just his feet so that they are flush with each other. To clarify, if you put him down, the entire flat surfaces of both his feet would be on the ground. Then, since your disc has a flat surface, you can tilt the disk backwards and face him forwards, so it would almos look like he's "skidding" to a halt on the disc by bringing the front up and pushing the back down. The legs and everything are good; you'd just need to cut off the feet and reposition them. Not that hard if you have the right tools and enough patience... and a dab of Green Stuff.

Now, for the disc itself. I like the look of it so far, but personally if I were going for two spinning halves on top of each other, I would dot each half with spikey bitz, which would rotate in opposite directions. In fact, what might look cool is if you use a bit of green stuff and add some fire poking through the gap between the two halves--I think it would look really dynamic and unique. Perhaps you might ditch the plastic base entirey, and just use a stack of large washers with the spikey bitz around them. It would give the disc a uniform feel.

One more thing: it's hard to tell from the small picture, but it looks like one of your spikey bitz has a head or something impaled upon it. That doesn't really look right. With spinning spikes, it would be more logical that the head was cleaved, not impaled. You may want to consider replacing that particular spike.

"Dear Enemy: May the Lord hate you and all your kind, may you be turned orange in hue, and may your head fall off at an awkward moment."

I think that the only way you're going to suggest a mechanism instead of a solid piece of metal is by putting a thin layer of putty on the top and bottom of your disc and texturing it.

If you haven't seen the images lately, have a look at the old mechanized disc models since they have a nice look can probably be approximated reasonably. Try http://www.solegends.com/citcat912/c20261rctzdiscs.htm for some images.
