Greater Daemons I can see being much better than Daemon Princes in the long run for two reasons. First they can be much more customizable with 100 points of G-d specific gifts. Second they are much more resilient T6 W5/10 compared to T5 W4. Furthermore they are all US 5+ and can negate ranks and gain a flank/rear bonus.

Of the Greater Daemons I feel that the Keeper is the best as far as inflicting damage on your opponent and surviving in combat. Slaaneshi magic combined with the Icon of Despair and the Masque will leave most of your enemies running from your keeper or just standing there with a dumb look on their face while she beats them into the ground.

In second place I will put the Great Unclean One due to his amazing ability to take cannon balls to the face, chew them and spit them back out. The Magic that Nurgle has IMO is second to slaanesh and can do some serious damage. The #6 spell if cast on a unit of T3 models with 25+ models in the unit you will be looking at a whole lot of nurgling bases coming to joing the fight. The down side to Papa Nurgle is his measly 4 attacks at WS4.

The Lord of Change and Bloodthirster are about even with each other. While a Bloodthirster can unleash a world of hurt in combat he still needs to be able to make it there. His gifts will make him almost unkillable in combat but a well placed cannon ball or a barrage of bolts from bolt throwers will take him out quickly. Khorne heralds on Juggers will do the same job for 1/2 the points. I would suggest taking them instead. The Lord of Change is an amazing wizards, but not much else stands out about him. He has access to great gifts but if you plan on using a GD I would go with Karios over him.

Hope that helps.

Daemon princes are more custom once you mark 'em taking 75pts plus the extra 50 from greater daemons.
I look at it like taking a lord or a lord on a dragon. One is fast, super killy and hard to hurt. Unfortunatly they are easy to hit back. Whereas the DP is small, cheap and still uber killy.
As for use, GDs are nice for monsters. Put one on the flank and tag team with some core infantry. The added speed makes it really easy to get behind enemy lines and mess things up. DPs are better used to turn a unit of cav or infantry into a truly worrysome hammer or anvil unit.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste

Why is this question being asked?

DPs lost terror and fly (which they can get back if pay for) and kept same points.

GDs are super customisable to whatever enemy you face, and IMHO a much better prospect than they used to be.

It will always be GD and/or heralds.
Daemon princes will not be seen unless for a specific fluff reason.

That's too bad. The Princes were some of the cooler models
in the range (to me of course).

Daemon Princes in the new Daemons of Chaos army book are just awful. Really overpriced for what you get. Practically pointless. Greater Daemons and Heralds are much more useful.

Daemon Princes in the WD get-you-by list for Warriors of Chaos are very different, and will be very useful if their rules are as rumored.
