Nothing wrong with it. It's tough. It's mobile.
Some armies will take all you have to give and phase you out anyway.

This list is tough to beat.
You have the speed to take on one enemy flank.
Your toughest opponents might be Chaos lash lists and Termie heavy SM armies.

this list is very threatening the only thing Id worry about is scoring Troop units for some of the 5th Edition Missions....and your lord costs 210 not 110. Depending on what you wanna do with this list as far as type of play in tournament you may be docked points for having so many repeated choices.

Your lord is actually 210, no? Considering a base lord is 100 points before upgrades, you're at least a little off there. :p It's a good list, though. I play a similar one but have the Deceiver instead of the destroyer lord. Does very well.
The things you'll need to watch for are:
- Double Lash chaos is a very tough game
- Double FotD pod marines
- Orks with Snikrot
Haven't fought new daemons with them yet.

Um, isn't the Lord as configured here neither 100 nor 210 pts, but 185?

Isn't the Staff of Light more effective on the lord, since he can fire off some shots before he charges in? How many invulnerable saves are you really going to be taking away? You also shouldn't be needing the 2d6 penetration, since you'll be able to glance everything to an eventual destruction anyway, or waste it with heavy D's.

Guys, the lord is 185pts. 100pts base, with 75pts in gear, and 10 pts for the weapon.
You get 45 S6 shots with a 36" range, I dont see it doing great, but it is fast, and can take a lot of punishment... I might have to play test a list like this.

This list looks nasty.
I'll see what I can do about making a Terminator-heavy 1850 Black Templars list.

I like the list, but power weapons will be a nightmare if they reach your fast moving units, a res orb could come in handy for WBB, otherwise your army could phase out before you want it to (and yeh I know you'd never wnat it to)

You might swap out of the Phylactery with a Nightmare Shroud if you've got the points. Nightmare Shrouds are fun fun on a fast moving Destroyer Lord.

I had not thought about nightmare shroud, I will have to look into that.
Also, I was just throwing in a warcythe to take up points, I am not planning on getting into assaullt. However, you all have a point. a res orb lord is probably a better idea.

The destroyers are 50pts each, you have to find a way to protect them. Keep the lord, run him into anything that gets close to the destroyers.

Why would you NOT send a Warscythe-armed Lord into assault? He ignores armour, invul, toughness, and rolls 2D6+5 for AP. Send him into combat dammit.
You need MORE warriors. Even with your 15 destroyers, 20 warriors won't do. 30 or even 40 would make a huge difference and would push your game past the 2,000 pts limit so you can play larger games.
|
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Because he's still only WS 4, Int 4, with 4 Attacks on the charge. You do Not send your Lord into combat by himself unless it's a really weak target, Warscythe or no.
My Destroyer Lord is decked out as;
1 Lord @ 210 Pts
WarScythe; Destroyer Body; Lightning Field; Nightmare Shroud; Phylactery
1 Destroyer Body @ [30] Pts
1 Lightning Field @ [25] Pts
1 Nightmare Shroud @ [30] Pts
1 Phylactery @ [15] Pts
He has no orb because he operates forward of the rest of my army Shrouding repeatedly, swarm of scarabs or two in tow.

So what are you planning to do with the warriors anyway? Just gonna walk it to the objective while rest of the boys let loose?

If I had more points to work with, I would take more warriors, but at 1850, this is the amount of warriors I would use.
@ Aduro, I had previously convinced myself that Nightmare shroud could only be used once per game, but after checking my codex I see that I was wrong. With that in mind, a nightmare shroud Lord could definatly pay off. I will have to play test it.
@ Kittenslayer, The warriors are there to simply claim my deployment zone. They would probably see very little action all game. I would march them onto an objective and leave them there to fire at anything within their 24 inch range. preferably, they would be hiding inside a building somewhere so a lucky battle cannon shot wouldnt phase me out.
As for the Lord, If he had res orb, destroyer body and nigthmare shroud, he could chill with the destroyer blob and give support, and when things got in too close, He could move in to be light counter charge and try to make them all fall back with nightmare shroud. Over the next few weeks, I will have this list built and will start play testing it.

another worry for this list is the SM all heavy weapons list, with 4 5 man scout squads with 4 sniper rifles with missle launchers, 4 5 man missle launcher dev squads, a 5 man lascannon dev squad and a 5 man plasman cannon dev squad.
that could wipe out all your heavy destroyers in a turn, as well as make a big dent in your destroyers.
that's 20 missle launchers, and 4 lascannons, 4 plasma cannons and 16 sniper rifles, every one of which has the potential to down a destroyer.
