I was reading through the news and rumors 5th edition post.

I saw that someone asked about open-topped and I didn't see a response to their question. I only had 5 minutes to look at the 5th rulebook and the following questions reflect this.

How is the damage chart used for open-topped vehicles? What modifiers, etc?

My question about vehicle squadrons is:

If you have a squadron of one vehicle, does it have to be destroyed if immobilized?
Does it gain the ability to count stunned as shaken?

I can almost hear you now: "But a single vehicle doesn't count as a squadron."

I am dreading to admit that I write the next line without the Codex in front of me.
In the Eldar codex the entry says "Squadron of 1-3 Vypers" or "Squadron of 1-3 War Walkers". Doesn't it?

Of course the Spirit Stones are now fairly useless for Vypers and Walkers in squadrons. Vectored engines on a squadron of Vypers not quite so useful.

If the squadron has one model, due to starting number or losses, it counts as a normal vehicle, so no squadron rules. Open topped vehicles +1 to the damage chart.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.

Open-Topped adds +1 to the table, which stacks with other modifiers. Thus, a glancing hit on an open-topped vehicle has a net modifier of -1, to the table.

Greebynog has it right on squadrons.

Gah. I think that the poster above has it right that a single vehicle squadron doesn't suffer from the immobile-death rule. However, I can see some rule-lawyer asshat trying to say otherwise due to RAW. I haven't read the rules, perhaps GW covered all the bases this time. If so, good for them. Clearly the intent of the rule is that a squadron shouldn't be inhibited by a crippled model, so its destroyed.

The new rules are very clear:

Once a squadron is reduced to a single vehicle immobilization no longer equals death and the vehicle no longer treats stunned results as a shaken result.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!
