Wings + MoS + LoS on each one.

Sorcerer is 145, DP is 155 points.

I know most people go double DP, but I was wondering if anyone has a different opinion in favor of double sorcerer.

My opinion is, that for 10 points, I'd much rather have a Daemon Prince.

Stronger, tougher, Immune to Instant Death, Better Invulnerable save... the list goes on!

Considering only effectiveness (not fluff or originality in list-building), I too would go for the dual DPs. The increase in sheer power for those 10 pts. is absurd. They can be singled out, but that's okay, because they're probably as tough or tougher, point-for-point, as whatever else your opponent would have shot at instead, so it's not such a bad thing that they can be picked out.

Before I ever played with it I agreed that it was best to have the DP, as having another scoring unit is a no-brainer. But if he’s never scoring at the end of the game, that’s a bit less of a consideration. My experience has been that the sorcerer tends to survive much longer while using Lash. Against a decent opponent the Daemon Prince will tend to either a) get into HTH in the first two turns and stop casting Lash, or b) get shot to death in the first two turns and stop using Lash. You can keep him alive longer if you have significant terrain to hide him behind, but then he’s going to have limited (if any) targets for the Lash.

When I’m playing dual-Lash I use one of each.

I think sorcerers are effective if:

A: They are using their IC ability to join a squad that is similar to their load out (terminator sorcerer with terminators, or winged or bike sorcerer with raptors or bikes)

B: They are a Tzeentch sorcerer on a disc with warptime.

These two ways are a good idea. If you are not doing one of them, then go with the DP's.

My Sorc has flight for the mobility, and moves around supported by/supporting raptors and/or rhino squads. He also has a personal icon so he's an additional summoning point for the unit of lesser daemons I run. This works pretty nicely.

When you bring DPs, make sure you bring 2 to absorb the fire and they will live for a while. The sorc has the problem that he hits like a little girl(4 S4 powerattacks scares noone) so he is basically just there to lash stuff, pretty expensive for just that.

Sorcerer's with wings are not effective. I wouldn't take a Sorc with wings over a DP. The only thing Sorcs are really good for is stripping them down to bare mark and power. A 125 point Sorc with MoS, LoS is very effective. It will be lashing the entire game as long as it's unit is a shooty one and doesn't get itself caught up in CC. That is the only way I can justify running Sorcs to myself. But I'll be running two of them off and on pretty soon.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.
