i find dual lash 6+ oblits makes for a game that is not quite as enjoyable as one with a list like this. i have wind of chaos on the dragon DP to sort of represent a breath type weapon, plus its a pretty decent power. plan is to run the 2 champion NM units up the table using the rhinos as a screen. at this point the 3 oblits will be separate from each other.. i am contemplating changing the chainfists to regular pfists in favor of 2 more combi weapons and taking out a blastmaster to put in 8 more sonic blasters. the thing i like about this list is it retains a measure of competitveness while being a cool looking theme list.

You put blastmasters in rhinos.

NM are fine walking around.

Really.

Everyone insists they zip up in a rhino and flame marines to death.

Just shoot them safely at 24" with sonic blasters. They do die.

Definitely need more oblits.

Dual lash 6+ oblits might not be enjoyable...but for whom do you worry? If it's for a tournament, losing alot will get you sportsmanship points but that's about it.

The marine units wont be in the Rhinos, the rhinos are going to be empty screens for the 2 "assault" oriented NM units (the ones with the champs)

i am taking out one blastmaster and changing the chain fists to power fists to fill out the shooty NM units with sonic blasters

so 2 units with 5 sonic blasters and a blastmaster a unit with 6 sonic blasters, and then the 2 champion units. the rhinos will be dedicated to the 2 champion units and the non-blastmaster shooty squad.

my point of view on blast masters..

i dont like it.. too expensive..

40 for a gun like that.. i really prefer a extra obliterator..

6 NMs with 6 sonic blaster is only 150 points

sit them in cover and shoot heavy 3..

it works really well

hope it helps

an obliterator dies to a single lascannon shot, where a blastmaster marine has what amounts to 5 extra wounds through "red shirt" type marines.

blastmasters can also shoot on the move if the marine unit has to relocate. (not that oblits cant, but it is an upside)

ive been playing EC for quite a while.. and i always find blastmasters win back their points faster than an extra oblit would.

I put my blastmaster guys in rhinos too. Well, I buy rhinos with them, the blastmaster guys typically deploy in different locations than the 35-point mobile walls.

I would, however, recommend consolidating the sonic blasters in units that don't have blastmasters. The blastmasters should be stationary and firing the blast. Sonic blasters are ideal for firing-while-advancing, which, while a blastmaster can do, it loses a lot of its strength doing so. Moving things around can get you two units w/ blastmasters and one with 6 sonic blasters for lots of shooty death.

ok, in a 2000 list, how many blastmaster would you drop in?

3 blastmasters at 2000 points.

@red. hrm that is a interesting idea, under the previous codex i would run my blastmasters in havoc squads. however, my army was more demon oreinted because demonettes and mounted demonettes just tore through everything.

so you are suggesting something along the lines of running the blastmasters with 5 bolter marines, and giving the NM units that are advancing up the feild (the champion units that is) the sonic blasters?

Mount the NM with doom sirens into the Rhinos.
Moving 12'', disembarking, and flaming an MEQ squad is priceless.
Keep the shooty NM squads with blastmasters and sonic blasters walking.
They can hold the center while the Rhino squads accompanied by the DPs approach the enemy along a flank.
The Termies should support them; give all of them combi-weapons.
Two lashes are better than one.
