So I've been asked (taunted?) repeatedly what I would really run for a demon list.

Someone actually called my house when I was out, and explained things to my wife.

So without further ado, this is the list I ended up running at the end of our playtesting.

Edit: Fixed list from playtest to current. The Heralds all come with Aura now.

It has weaknesses against various army types.

Played well, I think it's one of the best lists you can make with demons.

Every unit of horrors has a support unit, to put the enemy at 18" range and let you pummel him.

The princes cannot assault you very well after a drop, but the 4 heralds can do a number on you.

20 wounds to chew through before they're dead, then there are 8 wounds of DP to deal with.

60 wounds of horrors. The 4+ save is annoying, and with pavane you push people away so they can't assault you easily.

It's quite funny seeing DP's live and heralds get the sh-t shot outta 'em.

Anyway if you've ever played Magic, this plays like a blue a$$hole deck. So don't do it to friends!

Yes, 27 shots per horde + the ever fun bolt of change gives you enough firepower to really hurt most things in the game.

All mech forces, anything nurgle w/fnp, and guard foot horde armies will give you fits--but you can make it a close game.

Nice. And I know how bad they can be in H2H.

The shooting aspect is just brilliant.

Interesting list.
However the demon princes are undercosted. They should be 125pts.
Also the heralds have 4 gifts from the list the are only allowed to choose 3 from.

I think the pavane on the princes is probably more useful, to this list, than fiends would be.
The DP's are also more durable.

It left my mind what the Chariots do again but it's pretty good.

Or you do get in combat what then & if you have bad scatter's ?

You think about a small unit of *flamers ( I think there the ones with the Flamer temp. with no Arm or cover)

they'd be good for killing things and also being a bait trap.

Oh I'm sure there are some mistakes, this was the playtest list.

I'll look at the book and fix the errors. I know it's around here someplace, I buried it like it's the Necronomicon or something. lol

HBMC, you really think the rule is crystal clear, do you? A rule written for the old Chaos Codex, itself removed from the game, and a new mechanic added to place demons on the board.

Tell me, how do you 'summon' demons?

Where is the sustained attack rule in 5E?

See, needs a FAQ because right now the rules broken.

Have you ever seen a GK army fight against demons? Even allowing them to recycle, all you do is kill all the heavy, elites, and HQ's...and finish off the troops then the FA last. Then let them recycle. They can't win the game for you in 5E, and in 4E they're not game winners either.

So in the end, all you added was a cheap shot about sportsmanship. Thanks alot.

Chariots make you cavalry.

The Heralds can and do get gunned down on occasion. Nothing you can do about it really.

If you let the Heralds run in and out of CC, you're going to lose. So players should focus fire on them. They aren't immune to bolters, but 5 wounds with a 4+ save can handle some fire.

In this list, the Heralds are the bait. If you kill the horrors, the heralds engage you in CC. They hurt.

If you really let me, I'll get the DP into CC too.

The horrors also have a 4+ save, and tend to shoot alot of things dead.

If they really have to, they can go tank busting but it's best to let the Slaanesh units do that if at all possible.

Flamers aren't bad, they're just risky--they mishap or scatter out of firing range, and that doesn't help.

With this list, you can safely drop where you want to and still affect the enemy.

Fiends don't help the list, as Patto noted.

You really don't need more CC help. The Heralds in pairs really wreck you.

They're also built so on the charge they can put the hurt onto MC and vehicles.

Personally dont like the slaanesh chariots that much compared to Tzeentch or Khorne, but thats more a personal thing since they are all good.

Isnt flamers pretty sweet to combine with that hwy pavane stuff?

Well they do but thats why you take a squad of three and if there not shot at then the other players dead.

And if they are thats a squad thats done shooting

Flamers cannot drop, kill one unit, and the next turn assault into something and kill it.

Terminators do.

Flamers don't--they drop, if they fire great, if not they get shot and die.

I like this list a lot. Very cool.

What about GK psycannons and alike? You have just 4 models with normal non-invulnerable save. And your pavane pretty useless vs CSM Lash..

Heralds mounted on chariots are nice, but I'd rather take two Bloodthristers.

Yes GK hurt demons. Cover helps.

Two bloodthirsters are a different kind of list entirely...and they cost 2 and 1/2 times the price of the herald.
