Kaldros wrenched his chain sword free from the twitching marine’s body. The screaming blade came out cleanly, severing the marine’s right arm just before the shoulder. The World Eater jerked spasmodically, still trying to swing his chain axe into his enemy . Kaldros smiled, and let his face get dangerously close the to the whirling chain axe. The berserker swung at Kaldro’s helmet, and cut a deep gash into the stylized howling face. Kaldros pulled back just as the axe cut his flesh, and stabbed the marine through the mouthpiece. Black blood poured out of the berserkers helmet. “Thank you”, Kaldros said, “that was delightful.” Suddenly he felt bored. This marine had nothing new to teach Kadros. He took a moment to survey the battlefield. Around him screaming Emperor’s Children fought the foolish children of Angron. The shrieks of doom sirens and sonic blasters completely drowned out the battle cries of the World Eaters. Ahead of him, Kaldros saw a charging World Eater suddenly stop and convulsive as a sonic blast hit his body. The berserker marine fell and flopped about like a landed fish. Kaldros giggled. Something tugged at his boot. He shot the dying World Eater through the eye and walked away.
“I tire of these World Eaters“, thought Kaldros, “they are so predictable.” He wished the corpse worshippers would show up. They died much easier, but were oh so fun to play with. Kaldros could drive a human to madness with his skinning knife. The World Eaters were already quite mad, so what was the point? And they never screamed in pain, only from rage. How long had they been fighting? Kaldros shrugged to himself, parrying a heavy-handed strike from another frothing mad man. These berserkers were annoyingly persistent if nothing else. He activated the speaker fused to his mouth and scream a litany of praise to Slaanesh. The marine’s armor cracked and Kaldros could see his fused ribs jutting out from his body. The marine screamed in rage and covered his ears. Kaldros took the opportunity to pull the marines fused ribs outwards, and then rammed them back into the marines body, piercing both of his hearts. Kaldros sighed. It just wasn’t fun when they didn’t scream from pain.
The vox crackled to life and demons shrieked in Kaldro’s ears. His warp senses translated this into “The enemy brings forth one of the most hated Lords of Skulls.” Ah, well this might be interesting. Kaldros screamed to the rest of his squad. They answered back in unearthly howls that caused the air of real space to shimmer around them. “Mighty prey comes, shrieked Kaldros, “send it back to the warp whence it came!”
The squad turned as one and ran towards the disturbance they all sensed. Even the least-attuned among them could not miss the storm that raged just over a kilometer away. The squad ran and roared it’s praises “SLAANESH SLAANESH SLAANESH!” Zathos, the squad icon-bearer waved the shimmering banner madly about. The human skin twisted of its own accord and agonized faces pushed out, trying to escape their imprisonment. Another squad of the Enemy charged towards the noise marines. The squad stopped and fired as one with their sonic weapons. The blasts shredded armor and tore heads from bodies. Three berserkers managed to reach the squad despite grievous bodily injury. Kaldros dispatched one, and another exploded when Ios fired the blast master at extremely close range. The shockwave rocked the squad, causing some to cry out in pain and pleasure. The third berserker buried his chain axe in the chest of another squad member. The two went down stabbing each other, one screaming in rage, the other screeching with pleasure. Kaldros and his squad didn’t slow down to see the outcome of the battle. Ahead he could see a large red shape materializing with a giant set of wings and a snarling dog face. All around them several squads of Emperor’s Children raised their voices in praise to Slaanesh. The air distorted weirdly, and with a wet ripping sound real-space tore open. A viscous fluid pored out of the tear, and from it came naked, glistening creatures. Kaldros chanted hateful words that his squad took up in unison. Kaldros grinned crazily as he chanted and looked towards Zathos. Zathos grinned back, taking Kaldros’s smile for favor. Zathos was still grinning when the Keeper shattered his mortal form. The huge demon gripped the icon like a spear as it met the dog-faced demon, pieces of Zathos still hanging from its perfect body. Kaldros giggled, imaging he could still see Zatho’s surprised smile in the torn patches of skin. Had he really thought Kaldros would be the vessel?
Kaldros’s helmet vox crackled to life. “Incoming imperial ships sighted. We will show them the glory of Slaanesh.” Finally! The wait was almost over!
