Kind of an experimental/fun Necron list building off an obvious theme to use a couple of new HQs units I'm building up. Rather wouldn't mind it being for 5th since the Pariahs would get a 4+ cover save hiding behind some others, but nope, it's for the "Final Fourth Edition Tournament" I'm hosting second weekend of next month at the FLGS.

I would smile If I faced this necron list. only 45 necrons? so I only have to destroy 34 models to win?
This will be very easy, as your flayed ones will most likely not be in range of th tomb spyder, necron lord and monolith. so wiping out hose two sqaud will be relatively easy. just force armor saves and charge. thats 20 down. 14 left.
why 4 pariahs? you could have 8 more warriors for that and increase you chances of winning dramatically. they won't be able to support the flayed ones, can be picked out and destroyed easily due to no we'll be back! I'm always surprised to see paraiahs in any necron list, but especially not such a small unit.
and really why do you need the tomb spyder? sure it's a monstrous creature, but it's "we'll be back" ability is only useful is you only took one type of one unit of crons, like one unit of immortals, so that if the entire squad is wiped out, you can still make we'll be back rolls. The way I see it, if even one squad is wiped out, let alone both, you have already lost the game (flayers just can't last).
and the deciver?!?!
maybe I'm just wierd but I never see a C'tan last more that a turn or two, as you cannot draw priority from it, and cannot have more than one. every heavy weapon is going to be turned on that one on the first turn or two, as all the little stuff wipes out your flayed one's units that are too close due to infiltrate. then you are just fighting to stay in the game, and save your warrior squads so you don't get phazed out.
I get what you are trying to do here. you are trying to use the necrons in the way they were intended to be played by the author of the book.
unfortunately the book was so terribly written, that you only have a few viable options of how to run a necron list. you get either swarm warrior with monoliths, or a flying circus. anything else, even a build like this were you have the gaze of flame and the pariahs reducing an enemies leadership to 6, making it with the deciver so they only hit on 6's in close combat, defeating them and running them down, and the pariahs making sure they have to test on a 6 or fall back within 6 of you, does not work due to the terrible "phase out rule"
But this list will lose, and lose badly.
Don't do it, it's a trap.

Honestly, I really think this will do terribly in the tournament. You have an assualty necron list, that doesnt have that many models. Necrons cannot be played the way you are trying to play them, at least not with a list like this. If you are dead set on an assualty list, then take 30 scarabs.

I'm guessing this list is for your Flayed Lord.
I praise you for sticking with your theme. The wins you get will be hard earned and make them that much sweeter.

I don't infiltrate my Flayed Ones up anywhere near the enemy. They do their best at hiding back mid-fieldish until I Deep Strike my Monolith and they come pouring out of it into HtH. Sure, they're not the most uber of HtH units, but I've always had good luck with em. They're solid gold against Tau. The Lord will be joined to the Flayed Ones, he's being made specifically for them.
Otherwise, yeah, not exactly a "power list". It's using a bunch of stuff I've never used before. I've never done more than just one unit of 8 Flayed Ones before. Never joined a Lord to support em. Never used a C'Tan before. Never used a Tomb Spider before. Never used Pariahs before.
I took the Pariahs despite my own personal negative opinion of them because I had taken the base things I wanted, and figured they fit the theme. Their survival, and not to mention most of the armies, probably depends on the fact my opponents will have had as much experience fighting these units as I have had playing them. I think the Pariahs may get ignored as they don't effect Phase Out and tend to be thought of as useless, and if they get too close, all the LD tests I can force a turn could get really nasty.
All in all, you said what I probably would have been thinking myself if I saw someone bring this army. It'll certainly be different.

I've personally always liked seeing a lord with a GoF in a unit of Flayed Ones backed up by some Pariahs. I hardly ever seem able to pass the leadership test so my templars are swinging for 6s, missing, and getting pulled apart by the scythes.
I'm putting together some Necrons that go along with that idea, but I think 2 units of 10 Flayed Ones is a bit much for my taste. Even when playing templars, I try to cram all kinds of shooty goodness in there. Maybe some more warriors? I think then you'll have a beefier (spell check?) phalanx that can hopefull crush opponents against their table edge with the Pariahs, Flayed Ones, Nightmare Shroud, and Deciever all doing their thing. That is if all their lascannons don't bring down your lith and c'tan in three... I guess I'm looking at those Flayed Ones as more of a counter-attack unit (when paired with your lord so the enemy doesn't get +1 A and you hopefully get more shooting done) more than a unit that can hop out of a lith and bash some heads.
That's just me.
Happy Hunting

I'd love to see how this army will do in a tournament. Think it'll be ready by the July 12th?
