This might be a dumb question, but I guess I can see this two ways:

Do vehicles still get to use their 4+ cover saves vs. Bomb Squigs?

1. The bomb squigs are released in the shooting phases so the vehicle should still receive its 4+ save.
2. The squig runs right up to the vehicle and detontates its attached bomb, so it kind of acts more like a tankbusta bomb. Grenade attacks would occur in assault and don't have cover saves.

I guess 1 is more RAW and I suppose would be the way the majority of players would play. Just curious.

bomb squig attacks are performed in the shooting phase. It doesn't say anything about CC or assault, so one must take it as an extremely fluffy shooting attack that hits on a 2+.

so yes, it would get a cover save.

Couldn't one argue that is it cover from the Tankbusta releasing the squigg or the squigg itself?

If the vehicle is gaining a 4+ cover save for moving fast, I could see a 4+ cover save against the squigg. But, if the vehicle was gaining a 4+ cover save because of terrain, it shouldn't affect the Squigg... right?

There is nothing in the bomb squig rules indicating that they are a shooting attack.

They are a special rule that is used during the shooting phase. and there is no indication that the opponent would get a cover save from them.

Can you put out an errata for your FAQ then? lol

Thanks for the Ork FAQ by the way. Wish GW had been a bit more timely in putting it out.

If one want to be picky the rule actually word for word states the squig can be released "instead of shooting", yes I know it may be written in that way to make sure people dont try to release a squig and shoot but still.

As Yakface pointed out however the squig attack is a special rule and thus is not really a CC or shooting attack, its a squig running upp to the vehicle and blowing upp.

Other odd things about the squig:
It does not matter if the squig has a LOS, it does not matter if the squig has to pass through impassable terrain to get to the vehicle.
The squig will go to the closest vehicle within 18", enemy on 2+ ork on a 1, nomatter what is between.

They are actually rather fun but can cause alot of questions

In short GW rulings are void!
