Hey guys, If I give a retributor squad an auspex and infiltrators come in from the board edge, do I get to take a free shot at them? I know in 4th ed I can't, but how about 5th? I don't have the rulebook but would like to see the wording on this.

No, the Auspex "shots" are done before the game and are subject to the normal shooting rules. Since the Infiltrators that are outflanking are not on the board before the game, they cannot be shot at.

Actually, no one can answer.

Until GW releases a FAQ for 5th edition and tells us what an Auspex does in 5th edition...no one can say what it will really do in the context of 5th edition.

It would really make the infiltrators more balanced if this was the case : )

Don't have to worry about Snikrot coming in behind you all the time

Auspex never worked anyway.

you can only infiltrate 12" away if there is no line of sight to an enemy model. since there is not line of sight, the unit with the auspex cannot fire since normal shooting rules apply.

If you can see the opponent, you must be at least 18" away, as so you can never roll high enough on 3d6 to ever see the enemy and get your shot off.

most worthless 2 point wargear in the game.

It helps your analysis of an items worth when you know how the item works in the first place.

4D6 is the correct range.

Of course, to make even hiding a moot point...you deploy so no one can hide...

Probably one of the best pieces of wargear for 2 points.
