My bro and I started toying around with Warmachine/Hordes. I started a few years back, when Prime came out, and had a decent small Protectorate force, that I promptly gave to him. I've been proxying out Cygnar and Skorne to see what I want to use, but I keep coming up against the same problem:

How the FRAK do I deal with Kreoss' feat? He's either hopping behind terrain and knocking everything I have over, or he's hiding behind a heavy jack and knocking everything I have over. Auto-hitting is definitely ruining my day, as is the stand up penalties.

Any suggestions would be hawt.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

If he's always hiding behind a heavy jack, then see if you
can slam it to knock Kreoss down

Play the game knowing that you're going to be KD ed at
some point. To totally protect against it, you have to be further
than 12" away from Kreoss, 15" if Kreoss can charge something.

However, one way is to force him to use the feat defensively.
Don't let him use the feat on a turn when his warjacks can
come at your warcaster. Stuff heavy hitters down his throat.
Have shooters lined up to snipe at him (if they stand up, they
shoot him since they sacrifice movement). Trenchers can
put down smoke so that Protectorate forces can't break through
on Kreoss's feat turn. Skorne put up a shieldwalled unit that
will count as being in shield wall even though they are knocked
down that turn. There's a lot of different ways, but those are
a few that have made me lose in the past

Well, if you get the feeling he'll be popping his feat soon, hide your own warcaster behind terrain. Now, he at least shouldn't be able to assassinate you.

If you want an easy button (and who doesn't?), take Darius and a bunch of warjacks. Cast Fortify on one of your jacks, and bunch everyone else around it. Voila! Nothing can be knocked down!

Edit: Skorne doesn't have anything like that though. Hiding behind Karax or Cetrati seems like a good idea.

@Malfred: 15" away is not safe at all. The advice you gave will place him on his rear. The safety range is 22.01 inches.

@OP: Avoid being bunched up and utilize attacking in waves vs. Kreoss. Cygnar has multiple ways to address Kreoss.
1) Stryker has his own Earthquake that can be extended with an arc node. Knock down his threat and utilize Sniped long gunners etc. to stop what is meant to punish you during KD.
2) Caine is excellent at avoiding the KD as he's a one man army. His forces can easily split up to mitigate the damage from the KD turn.
Each warcaster is effective vs. Kreoss...one just needs to force Kreoss to feat earlier than he wants to.

Oops. I haven't used Kreoss often and you're right. 14"CTRL
+5" move + 3" with a charge. My bad.

Another option, although it's pricy point wise, is a Defender with 16" of range... start popping those at him, make him pop his feat when the ONLY jack you have vulnerable to it is the one Defender, and poof! Wasted Feat...

Remember... Cygnar is all about forcing the other dummy to do what you want him to... and running into all that ranged goodness you can provide.
