I recently painted up some masters of the chapter and thought I'd share. From the start, as soon as they were announced I knew that I wanted to paint them up as Imperial Fists, don't ask me why, and I think they turned out pretty nice. I didn't follow the GW scheme but I did stay true to codex with the single exeption of painting the master of the watches trim silver instead of white. I think it looks better silver but that's just me.

Master of the Watch and Captain of the first company:

Master of the Arsenal and Captain of the third company: (my favorite sculpt of the four)

Master of the Fleet and Captain of the fourth company:

Master of the Recruits and Captain of the tenth company:

Group shot:

These were a lot of fun to paint though they aren't anything too fancy. I think when I get my IF army going (yeah I'm starting a meq army...) I'll get some more of these guys and do a conversion or two. That and really go to town on the freehand.

Also here's Huron the Blackhearted and his warp dog:

I painted these up in the eavy metal scheme to brush up on GW eavy metal style of painting.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these and please comment.

They look fantastic! It almost makes me want to get Huron Blackheart. One Question - How do you do your HB reds, and your SM Metals?

Oh and one other thing, does the warp dog come with Huron, or is he of your own creation?

Malfred: Terminator Armor has always had room for extra boobage.
Drake_Marcus: It's true- that's why the Space Wolves love termie armour so much. The whole "bear" thing they've got going on is just a thinly veiled cover-up of their huge, hairy cleavage.

The yellow armour is very nicely executed - I especially like the 1st company captain.

There are several users on Dakka who make me think "Ooh! This'll be good!" whenever I see a M&P topic by them, and Wayfarer is now locked in as one of that group. Looking forward to the next post!

Absolutely fantastic.

I'm still trying to figure out which Chapter to start for 5th, trying to decide between Raven Guard and Marines Malevolent, so I'd love to hear about your yellow too!

Great stuff!

Thanks for the comments guys.

The yellow I paint by basecoating with VGC filthy brown (GW vomit brown?), then I shade with glazes of Liquitex prism violet and glazes of Liquitex burnt sienna and highlight with glazes of VMC golden yellow (don't let the name fool you, this isn't like GWs paint of the same name) and smooth out the transitions with glazes of filthy brown. It's a shame they call the brown filthy and vomit because if they called it honey brown it'd be a lot more popular.

blinky: The reds on huron are basecoated mechrite red, shade with very thin black (up to you whether or not to use paint or ink) then build up the color with thin coats of VMC red (gw blood red). Highlight by mixing in a small amount of VMC red orange with the red. Then add in VMC flat flesh (this is an orangey fleshtone) and thinly highlight again. Then in very small amounts highlight with pure flat flesh. I basically followed the masterclass article in the wd that came out around the chaos release. Also, his pet hamadyra comes with the mini. I think it's a great sculpt, the pose isn't the best but the detail is very good.
