Anybody here play Neverwinter Nights? If so, which server/servers?

For those who don't know, Neverwinter Nights is a real-time PC rpg that is based in the Dungeons and Dragons world. It's basically, a real-time DnD game on your computer. Very fun. There are a variety of classes to choose from, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The game has a tremendous customization system, which allows you to change the look of your armor, weapons, and even create your own adventure, with its own challenges and landscape! The online servers are always based in worlds created by the server hosts, and usually have tweaks in them, which usually allow the opportunity for God levels or slotted weapons. Also, Bioware (the company who owns the game) releases updates for it too, so it will always be growing!

Being titled as one of the greatest rpgs for the PC, it certainly is worth a try.

Just don't play Neverwinter Nights 2, STAY AWAY FROM NEVERWINTER NIGHTS 2! It is too demanding on most systems, meaning the game is ALWAYS jumpy, the characters are ugly, the armor is ugly, the amount of useless classes is ugly, and the online play is ugly. The first one is much better.

Some gameplay from Neverwinter Nights, the hero encounters a Vrock, a vulture-demon who usually has tons of menacing powers at his disposal!

I wish I could say I still enjoy playing NWN, but when my friends and I booted it up a month ago to play some multiplayer, our eyes collectively bled due to the ancient graphics.

Is there any sort of mod that updates the graphics past the PS1 era?

Not that I know of, it's more the multiplayer aspect that I find enjoyable.

For better graphics you might try NWN2. I played NWN back when it came out, but haven't in some time.

Like I said, NWN2 is very demanding on most systems.
this=always jumpy gameplay

I only wish they had put the Warlock class in NWN!

Neverwinter Nights was a fun game for a while. It was nice that you could really do a lot with it, but it had its problems too. I had a lot of fun playing on a PVP arena server for a while. Other than that, most of the multi player games ended up being too difficult for all the players to keep up with the story (they would be wandering around all over the place when important development / NPC dialogue and interaction was happening) so things tended to deteriorate into a more "Diablo" like dungeon crawl most of the time. If you can find modules or running servers that can keep your interest though, the game can be great.

Threads should be like skirts: long enough to cover what's important but short enough to keep it interesting.

There is one such server, it's called Legends of Chance, and you need to download and install the Community Expansion Pack (2.0) to play on it. It is a very good server, basically everyone is friendly, God levels, custom items, item collection quests, and 2000+ areas to adventure in.

Oh, and Ahtman, the Warlock from 3.5, since that is version both of the NWN games use. I also think it's better, they had so much more damage potential in 3.5. Hitting basically everything they point at and doing good damage. A lvl 12 can hit for 6d6 physical, 2d6 acid, no spell-resist allowed I beleive.
