So I finally got a new camera and figured I'd take a few shots of the test model for my Protectorate of Menoth army for Warmachine. I must say the P3 Menoth base and highlight are great, though I do need some more practice at whites and how to properly highlight them. Well, any feedback would be great.

Hooray for new toys! I think the white & gold are both bright, bold and effective. The "wine" portions are nicely shaded, but I find myself wishing they were highlighted up a little more.

Good luck with the neverending improvement of your whites - I share your struggle with my Khador.

what kind of camera do you have?
are you using a tripod?

I would suggest doing thinner coats of white, as on the "head" it looks like some texture in the paint

Love the Senny. I'm a fan of the P3 line too. For whites you can wash with the new GW 'brownish' wash and then re-highlight white. It'll make the recesses a little darker and give more depth.

The brass is a little bright for my tastes. It could be washed with a brown and then edged a little. But again, those are just my tastes

I worked on it a bit today and highlighted the cloth part up a bit and added some gray lines inbetween armor plates to try and break them up a bit. I'm still not too happy with the white armor, and think I'll go with a red armor/white cloth scheme that I'm trying with my flameguard.

Anyway, updated shots:

And the WIP Flameguard:

@deitpike-it does look a bit thick, and I did water the white down. I'll have to water it down a bit more next try.

Try a lighter grey for the spots between the armor plates. You could use space wolf grey. The dark grey is almost a little too much a contrast. It does look nice though.

My wish came true! What do you have planned for his base?

No clue yet. I have a bunch of premixed snow/flock I did for my Legion, but I want to do something different for the Protectorate. Kind of at a loss as to what to do. Probably just end up with sand, rock and static grass.

For taking pics, I would recommend a background that's a different color than the fig. I wouldn't use white backgrounds behind white figs.
