Note: this is limited to what I feel like painting. I'm sure there are better options, but I don't want to paint them.
The idea is what's most likely to win a GT, where really bad matchups must be avoided.

Go with Mech Sisters. You seem to be harping on them lately and though I don't have any experience with or against them but they seem pretty good with the new rules.
And the models are purdy.

command w/standard
cannoness
2 lascannon squads
platoon:command squad, 3 squads, 1 remnant
30 conscripts
2 sisters squads in rhinos
russ
demolisher

Voted mech sisters
1) No one has done top 10 finish with them, so would be cool to see that
2) Everyone and their mom will have orks
3) You already brought guard, why not bring something else?
4) Mech sisters play's differently then other armies you play, so might be more fun for ya?
5) sisters will be a spoiler army I think. They have the tools to deal with most armies and even though everyone brings the anti- MEq stuff Sisters can mitigate that somewhat via faith and tactical use of the rhinos. Anything mech will probably be an issue for you though even with 3x exorcists.

I would advise to play with models you allready have and test how they changed, maybe starting with Marines. 5th feels like a whole new game in many aspects, so you actually can use an old army and have it feel all new. Get a grip of the new rules, then decide what to buy.
At the moment Id favour sisters, for all their rapid fire, rhinos and faith tricks.

Mech sisters is probably the better army, but the mixed army would be a cool army to try and compete and win with. Taking Heavy Flamer/ Flamer in your squads + Faith points gives you great anti-infantry at a bargain.
Don't forget you can take doctrines too.

Awsome, wish I had gotten the SoBs when they were in better produciton myself. They look like they will shine all thru 5th ed, unless they let Gav come back and write their new codex.

easy 1500pts is, roughly:
1 jumppack cannoness-full load out of toys in wargear, plus evisorator and inferno pistol for tank or hard target hunting.
3 rhino squads of 10 sisters(usually vet, meltagun, Hflamer, book and either bolter or combibolter-flamer)
1 8 man seraphim squad-vet with plasma pistol and bolt pistol, 2 flamers
3 exorcists-extra armor.
1 5 man celestian squad with MM.
7 faith points.
Works well. The celestain squad on foot is a quick speed bump most cant ignore with the MM. plus martyrs fast....and is only like 80points.

That's about what I'll be bringing up for the NEWCC. I looked and I have just about all the models if I play them as 'sisters of ultramar' and recycle the tanks.

Seen your list. I'd drop the evisorators in the sisters squads and spend the 25pts per squad more wisely.

I'm actually wondering if I shouldn't have a squad or two of walking sisters, sitting back defending objectives in my own deployment zone.

Walking sisiters are good but they suck up faith. That's actually the toughest part about a foot slogging SOB army is keeping your faith high. You will be diving guiding almost every turn as opposed to easy bake where you are basically one and done. Also they get into hth more often adn they are a more expensive squad so you start blowing some hth faith on them. Plus they actually have enough collective attacks to do some damage.
if you do it go 20 sobs and 3 storm bolters. That said ifyou are ever going to take an evicerator this is probably the squad. Evicerators get a bad rap because they are expensive and only S6, and in 4th ed you are often sacraficing your vet SOB to get faith back into the pool. If 5th ed though, I think people are going to try and keep their squads intact longer. This is actually a huge paramount switch for SOBs. As a large part of the meta game was trying to die and set up another Ez Bake attack.

I run a 13 girl squad with 3 stormbolters that works pretty nicely. Depending on how well you can deploy them forward into cover 24" reaches out pretty well, and Divine Guidance can make anyone advancing on you to assault quite unhappy.
Then again, I also like retributors with heavy bolters, but they don't capture objectives.

They day they make plasitc sisters ill never play anything else, until then, I salute those with the patience and budget to paint that much metal!
Cant wait to see your sisters in play Ed, Hope you get a chance to bring them down to the Ice House some time.
I think straight mech sisters will be brutal in 5th, particularly because they play so differently from any other army. People not used to faith points often make poor tactical decisions when facing sisters, and you have allways been the kind of player to take advantage of opponents mistakes.
I think it will play into your tactical style well.

Correction. Matthew Sprange placed first in a GT with them in mid 3rd ed, with a base rulebook list prior to the sisters WD C/A article no less. He wrote a White dwarf article pertaining to it.
So it stands to reason that in the hands of a good player, they can place highly at a GT in 5th edition. It seems a reasonable hypothesis.
(pure speculation though as I haven't used my mech sisters using the new rules, but judging by what I am seeing in the rulebook, they indeed look like a plausible choice for a good tourney list in 5th ed as the list stands right now)

Alrighty, was thinking more the current book and WH in general but good to know.

If I didn't already play a short ranged shooty style list (Salamanders) I'd be all over SoB in 5ed. I think they will be a very strong list in 5ed.
