Got a quick glance at the new 5th ed. rulebook today and I have a question?

How do kill points work for a combat squad unit?

For example, if I purchase a ravenwing bike squad, the extra three bikes, an attack bike, and a land speeder all for the same slot, does it all count as one kill point or does it count for four? What if I keep them together?

I went looking for the answer in the new book and it said t that units (I.E. a squad and a rhino) are counted as separate units as far as kill points (as in one for each). However it gave an exception clause that was something (cryptic) to the effect that if they were purchased as the same unit they only count as one?

Does anyone have the book handy or the answer to this question?

Thanks,
Uriah

You get a kill point for every unit destroyed in the game, full stop.

The only exception listed in the rulebook is a character with a retinue who gives out 1 KP for both the character and the retinue if destroyed.

Since Combat squads act as individual units in the game (along with anything else like Zoanthropes or individual Guard units from a platoon) they each give up a KP if destroyed.

Of course, if you see that its a KP game and you're playing marines you can simply elect to keep your unit together to minimize the KPs you can give out if you want.

Thanks for the quick reply Yak.

I was thinking about doing MSU ravenwing for 5th, but all of those kill points will hurt in some missions.

Thanks again,
Uriah
