I updated to Opera 9.50 this afternoon and everything seemed to work fine. When I tried browsing in the evening Dakka stopped working. See the attached screenshot.
I've tried restarting Opera, clearing cookies, and clearing the cache. Nothing helped.
System info:
Version: 9.50
Build: 4870
Platform: Mac OS X
System: 10.5.3
Contents of the javascript console:

Thanks for the detailed information. I am unable to reproduce this error in opera 9.5 on XP and dont have access to an OS X box right now. Looking at your error there seem to be a couple of things going on there, and they suggest one of the following:
- Somewhere you have set security settings unusually high... are 'enable automatic redirection' and 'send referer information' are both enabled? (network tab under advanced in tools -> properties). If they are not enabled you might get an error similar to what you see.
- Are you behind a proxy server? The error you have seems to be the stylesheets and javascript files are not loading properly and they are all loaded in after the main page. Could there be a misconfigured proxy server in the mix somewhere (even at your ISP?)
Could you try going to the following URLs one after another... (they should all just show code)
http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/j/core.js
http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/j/wz_tooltip.js
http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/c/style-classic.css
http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/c/style-new.css
and then after you have been to each of those, go back to the main dakkadakka site. Does this fix the problem?
Thanks

Both are enabled. legoburner wrote: - Are you behind a proxy server? The error you have seems to be the stylesheets and javascript files are not loading properly and they are all loaded in after the main page. Could there be a misconfigured proxy server in the mix somewhere (even at your ISP?)
I don't have a proxy setup. I don't think my ISP has one. This did nothing. It didn't display any code, it didn't go in the cache, and it won't even let me view it as source. I didn't do a proper uninstall before updating so there might be some crud in the preferences somewhere. I'll try installing it properly after work tonight. ETA: I had Opera recreate its "Opera Preferences" folder then merged in the bits of my old preferences that are hard to replace, and everything seems to work now.

I'm having some interesting Opera 9.5 behavior as well, involving posting replies and the Quick Reply box. I haven't been able to duplicate anything yet, though, so this is an uninformative post indeed. *edit: removed symptoms when I couldn't duplicate the results.

Janthkin, was your problem that it logged you out when you tried to post a reply? If so, then that problem will hopefully be solved with this weekend's code release.

No, just some silliness regarding the text of my reply appearing in the Quick Reply box after posting, and strange behavior of the "Back" button after posting (going "back" wouldn't return me to the thread pre-reply).
As noted, I can't duplicate it. If I can, I'll let you know.

Okay, as closely as I can narrow it down: Using the "Quick Reply" box in the DCM forum results in the following behavior: 1) My reply is posted; 2) My reply is still in the "Quick Reply" box; and 3) The "Back" button does not return me to the thread pre-post, but to the forum listing. It's as if hitting "Submit" is refreshing the page (and adding my post), instead of taking me to a new version of the thread with my reply added. Bizarre, no? Not what you might call a high priority bug, but I wonder what combination of factors leads to this. *Edit: Firefox 3 has a minor variation: 1) My reply is posted; 2) My reply is NOT in the "Quick Reply" box; and 3) The "Back" button returns me to the thread WITH my reply posted.

Opera has always had some funny caching settings compared to other browsers and I wonder if this might be a symptom of that. Either way, I'll look into it over the next couple of weeks.

A bit of thread resurrection by me here, but I have just got round to testing this out and have deduced that it is almost certainly down to local proxy/cache settings at your end. I have tried a wide range of setups (except OS X) and am unable to reproduce, so I'm marking this as closed in my todo list. Let me know if it continues to be a problem, but I suspect there is a transparent proxy somewhere between you and dakka that is confusing things a bit (or you have especially harsh cache settings locally).
