My 1st game was against the Moocher and his Chaos Marines... tough draw for round 1! He had the following:

Tzeentch sorceror on bike w. warp time

Slaaneshi sorceror on bike w. lash

4x bikers w. 2x melta

(ran all the bikes together in the beginning)

Greater Daemon

3x Oblit

3x Oblit

2x Oblit

6x Noise Marines (all sonic blaster)

6x Noise Marine (all sonic blaster)

10x tactical Marine w. las/plas

6x veterans w. 2x melta & icon

Standard deployment (12'') and table quarters was the primary objective. Moocher deployed very well keeping a lot of my army out of LOS. He also used his movement phases very well too. First turn all of his bikes turbo boosted up to a lone squad of tactical Marines (with power fist) standing in a building with my two LST behind it. I moved up the tactical Marines to assault and killed all the Chaos bikers with shooting. All he had left were the two sorcerors which I assaulted. The sergeant survived and fisted to death the Slaaneshi sorceror. I had to move the two LSTs out from behind the building to shoot the bikes, which worked. The next turn the Oblits stunned one LST and shook the other. His Noise Marines moved up and aced one of my tactical squads with all the sonic blasters. Another tactical squad got aced by some of his other Oblits. His veterans had infiltrated and moved up on a flank to unleash the Greater Daemon.

The Greater Daemon arrives, is out of range to assault but positioned such that I cannot shoot it or his veterans... very clever! More shooting aces yet another tactical squad with me failing all six armor saves. Drat! One terminator squad arrives via deep strike behind intervening terrain and puts three wounds on Moocher's greater daemon. I start to pour some shots into a Noise Marine squad and ace them. The one LST not stunned drops back behind cover. Heavy bolter toting Devs drop back behind cover as well.

Next turn both Greater Daemon and Chaos vets charge my last tactical squad dropping them but they are too far away to consolidate in my termies. Oblits destroyed stunned LST. Second termie squad arrives via deep strike behind cover as well and combined fire aces vets and Greater Daemon. Moocher is now contesting one of my table quarters and holds two while I hold the other. I had positioned my last LST to shoot his tactical squad doing some damage but leave the front in LOS to his tactical squad plus one group of Oblits.

Next turn his Tzeentch sorceror turbo boosts over towards my termies and his Oblits destroy my last LST but I still have Dev squad holding that table quarter. Termies blast the sorceror and the other squad of Noise Marines. I still hold one table quarter, my other is contested by a squad of Oblits and Moocher still holds his two table quarters. Moocher gets the primary and secondary while I only get the two bonus points. If I had been more cautious with my two LSTs I could have contested his two table quarters for a draw. Moocher really used the terrain very well and his Oblits caused all kinds of problems for me.

2nd game was against Samhain style eldar list:

3x full guardian jetbike squads w. cannon & warlock

autarch on bike

farseer on bike

Fire Dragons in wave serpent

Banshees in wave serpent

3x Vyper w. cannon

Mission was loot counters with 12'' deployment again. My opponent's name is Hunter Masters and lives close by to me in Tampa. I really liked his list and his army is beautifully painted. Major kudos there. We had played several months ago in an RTT at the Goblin Shoppe - BA versus BA. He is a combat squad kind of guy and I was very interested to see how my full squads would perform against combat squads. The shooting part that comes from using the copmbat squads was powerful but my full squads rolled through his like a hot knife through fresh butter. It was a close game and I ended up with the win in the last turn.

Anyways this was a loot counter mission... one at the center of the table, one in your deployment zone, and one in your opponent's deployment zone. Not much area terrain to speak of... a real field day for my shooty Blood Ravens. I decided to start with HQ deployed so I could shoot everything possible from the get go. I won first turn and proceeded to drop one bike squadron, two vypers and shake a serpent. His turn he turbo boosted one bike squad and moved the other 12" so he could shoot. Both serpents come out the full 24". Autarch and farseer hang back with turbo bikes. I think I lost one Marine in his shooting phase.

Next turn I drop the last vyper and another bike squad. If I can kill the last bike squad he will not be able to control any objective (only Troops could control objectives). I also shake both serpents. His turn dragons pop out and drop a couple of terminators. Last bike squad shoots but does not engage in close combat... I lose a couple more Marines from shooting. Serpent with banshees moves over to opposite side of my big Space Marine brick.

Next turn I drop the last bike squad and kill both autarch and farseer in assault. Dragons also die to shooting. One serpents goes down in flames. Now all that is left are the girls and their ride. Out pop the banshees his turn and they charge into brick. A couple more Marines die then power fist goes off and banshees break... and are shot off table as they continue to flee.

I control the central objective plus the one in my own deployment zone. Lone serpent kills squad on central objective with shooting then it gets really stupid... my opponent claims the serpent can contest the objective in my deployment zone. He is dead set on it even though everyone says it cannot. Finally I go get the head judge but my opponent is gone when we get back. To make a long story short we were finally able to approach him at the start of the last game and the judge gave me back the points for the primary objective.

Next up trait Marines in pods.

Next up was the final round of the first day versus another player from Tampa with his drop pod trait Marines... two special weapons and true grit. His army was meant to represent pre-heresy Death Guard and I thought this two traits were excellent choices for his theme. His list looked something like this:

Chaplain on bike w. artificer armor & mantle

5x bikers w. 2x plasma gun & attack bike w. multi-melta

10x trait Marines in pod w. melta/plasma
10x trait Marines in pod w. melta/plasma
10x trait Marines in pod w. melta/plasma
10x trait Marines in pod w. melta/plasma

10x Dev w. 2x las, ML & HB
10x Dev w. 2x las, ML & HB

The mission was the L deployment zones with three objectives. I believe the primary was to hold the center of the table with the most scoring units. I got to choose to go 1st/2nd and chose to go 2nd. I started with both terminator command squads in reserve. This was a close game and I found out I could not use more than one psychic power per turn. I could have sworn there is an FAQ by GW that states a Librarian can use one power per phase of a player turn but I was unable to find it. Oh well!

My opponent went first and moved up his bikes in tow with the Chaplain moving into a large crater for cover (4+). One bike died from failing its dangerous terrain test. His Devs were too far back to shoot any of my units, most of which I clumped into a building to form my classic Space Marine brick. I placed both LST behind the building and placed both tactical squads with power fists in the back of the building so they could counter charge his drop troops when they arrived later... stuck them just inside the building for the 4+ cover save as well. I opened up on the bikes and killed all of them except for the Chaplain who still had his full wounds left.

2nd turn one drop pod arrives from reserve and lands in front of the building. The Chaplain moves up to join them rather than entering the building to engage my brick. I suppose all those red Marines looked a bit intimidating. He fired the drop troop into one tactical squad and killed two to three. My turn one terminator command squad arrives from reserve and I used a teleport homer to bring them in beside the building and in LOS to his drop troop. I then shoot up the drop team and only managed to kill about four of the ten. Two squads of tactical Marines then counter charged the enemy drop team and killed around three more. The Chaplain was not in base contact with any of my Marines and had to pile in after the battle was over.

3rd turn two more drop pods arrive and land behind the building firing into the building, killing roughly two from one tactical squad and three from another. His Devs start to move forward so they can make range to my building. My terminators led by the Librarian move up to assault the first drop team and the Chaplain. My other tactical squads (one with a power fist) engage one of the newly arrived drop teams behind the building while my speeders and Devs destroy the other newly arrived drop team. His Chaplain waxes my four terminators, while my Librarian finished off the remnant drop team attached to the Chaplain. All that is left in that combat is my first Librarian and his Chaplain. My two tactical squads in the rear of the building move out and charge the remaining drop team back there. We both lose about three to four Marines apiece in that scrum so the combat is a draw.

Next turn the last pod comes in and lands in front of the building. They target one LST and manage to shake it. His Devs are still out of range from my building. Chaplain and Librarian both wound each other but because I used VoT I could not use the force weapon. My other terminator command squad comes in and mulched the last drop team to arrive blazing away with their cannons and storm bolters. Maybe two Marines survive but I use FoD for the first time and they break but not far enough away to be able to regroup. Chaplain and Librarian destroy each other as I am lucky enough to land two wounds and he fails both 4+ Rosarius saves. Now my remaining terminator squad with 2nd Librarian make short work of his remaining drop teams. Devs drop two of the pods.

Next turn the Devs haul arse into the center of the table to claim it. My speeders fly up and break his Devs with FoD, driving them off the objective. I end up with all three objectives and both bonus points. It was a nice way to end the first day.

Great BatReps mate! It's a shame that your second opponent walked out on you... I despise players like that. No, he can't use the serpents to contest your objective, I'm positive of it. Nice use of your speeders, and that first battle sounded great. You could have lost that really badly if he had a winged lash DP instead of that lash sorcerer, but he made good use of the Oblits.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

The first game on Sunday was against Rob Server from the Tampa area as well. I had just played his IG army with my Blood Ravens the previous month in a local RTT over here in Largo (1500 points). He was fielding his IG again. More to come.

Back to the fourth game...

IG army looked something like this:

Command platoon
Colonel Commissar Gaunt

25x conscripts

6x rough riders

3x auto-cannon teams
3x lascannon teams
2x missile launcher team

1x Sentinel w. autocannon

Veteran squad w. lascannon

Basilisk
2x Hellhound
Leman Russ
Leman Russ Demolisher
Armored Fist unit in Chimera

The primary objective was to choose one enemy unit and destroy it. You had to declare your hunted unit prior to deployment. I picked a Hellhound and my opponent picked an LST.

I bricked half my Marines in a building in one corner of my deployment zone and the other half behind a cliff wall in the other corner. LSTs deploy behind building. Termies were all held in reserve. My opponent deployed his hunted Hellhound behind a building in his deployment zone. His forces were spread evenly across his deployment zone with the two Lemans in a far corner.

I love to play against heavy armored IG armies with my SAFH Space Marines. It is a bit like shooting fish in a barrel. All terrain was 4+ cover save and I did the Chinese fire drill keep my Marines evenly spread to minimize the pain from his ordnance. I got to go first and started shooting. One LST flanked over along the short table edge towards the Hellhounds... the other LST remained tucked away behind my building. Heavy bolter Devs wiped out one of the ML teams and my lascannons dropped the Chimera. His Lemans were out of range from my other lascannons and missile launchers. His turn his Lemans moved up and he shuffled his two Hellhounds trying to box in the hunted Hellhound. Ordnance from the Leman Russ and Basilisk drifted off the table.

2nd turn both of my termie command squads came in... one drifted off the table while the other got a direct hit on the scatter table. The termies that made it in unloaded their assault cannons into the side of the hunted Hellhound and smoked it. LST flanking comes in and smokes the Basilisk. I have the primary and the only gun he could fire on my hunted LST had been nullified. I kept shooting with the HB Devs and torched another IG team. His turn he shoots everything he has at my termies but I make all my invulnerable saves. Some more ordnance from the Leman but it misses again. Leman Russ Demolisher moves towards my brick behind the cliffs with Gaunt, conscripts and rough riders following along.

3rd turn termies wipe out IG command for 2nd objective. LST drops the other Hellhound. My brick behind the cliffs start to move over so as to be ready to counter assault Gaunt and the conscripts. My missile Devs take out the demolisher cannon on the Leman Russ demolisher. HB Devs smoke rough riders.

The rest of the game is me shooting the last of his armor and the termies moving deep into cover to prevent their death... only the Librarian makes it with one wound left. Space Marine engages Gaunt and conscripts slowly whittling them down over the course of the last few turns in close combat. Gaunt is possessed and kills his fair share.

Game ends with me taking two objectives plus both bonus points. A nice day for the gun club!

One unit as the target? And furthermore, a Hellhound? He could have made it an infantry or something so he could hide it easier.

You got to pick which unit from your opponent's army list that you wanted to hunt. You had to choose prior to any deployment. I chose a Hellhound.

That was an unfair 1st round draw imposed by the TO's flaky ranking system. I could have been quite gehy and hid my entire army, forcing Moocher to move towards me then shot out with the two LST the final turn (I got to go second) for a draw or win... but I don't want General Hobbes starting a thread about me not letting an opponent have a fair chance to win.

I know I just dinged the TOs on their ranking system but... it was the best 40k GT I have been to there so far since the inaugral and I thought the head judge did a fantastic job - he was very objective and analytical when reviewing questions and always read all pertinent rules. We need more judges like him. He also had the balls to reverse results if he found out after the fact that someone had cheated.

Well that makes me feel a little better.

Listen up people, when ever you get a chance to crush anyone from Toledo at a GT circuit event, you must seize your chance, and play like you have never played before!!! I need your help to win the GW GT circuit, I can't do it by myself.

If you can vanquish a Toledoen, the skalds will sing songs of praise for you, and you will tell your children of this great feat, and they will tell your children’s children of your greatness, and when you die, you will feast in the halls of the Warhammer Gods!!!

So one last batrep to go... I was up against an olde Word Bearer from the Necro inaugural 40k GT. This time he was fielding 193 orks. That is a lot of orks... target rich environment! The primary objective was victory points. I opted to start with my terminators deployed for more killy gun power. More to come!

If you wish to hone your skills and train beyond all mortal beings, you can begin the perilous journey to be inscribed in Codex Toledo. Be warned that very few players ever live through the hidden paths to the sacred land of Perrysburg for it is a realm lost in both space and time. Those with the physical stamina to endure this journey are then enveloped in the grueling Trials of the Hammer set upon you by Peter the Great Equalizer. Should you fail, your soul shall burn for a 1,000 years in the Erie abyss and then cast aside in sweet mockery. However, should fate be on your side, you will be brought into the fold and immortalized forever in Codex Toledo.

And I would like a re-match. I moved to Arizona so it might be hard though. I might come out to Tampa for the Owned RTT to collect the $1000 prize money.
