Who knew the ancient Egyptians played D&D?

Although they called it Pyramids and Sphinxes.

Not that I have $20K to throw around for a D20, but I can only imagine how amazing it is to hold such a piece of history as that in your hand.

If I were rich enough to say that price is no object, the ancient relics listed would be a steal to buy at those prices.

The icosahedron looks really well made in that the shape is very symmetrical and the faces are smooth. Since it is a glass artifact, it had to be molded. Since it was quite possibly molded, that must mean there are plenty waiting to be found somewhere.

Pretty cool find. I wonder if anyone has ever found out what game(s) that was used for, or what use it had in anything.

Just make sure that when you roll, you don't roll the "plague" symbol.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Seconded. I'd snatch that up and it would have a place of promenance in my home on the mantle. It would just be too cool to have.

Funny enough, all the basic gamer dice (other than the d10) are natural crystal shapes. I think they are collectively called the "platonic solids" or something like that (been a while since I've needed that bit of trivia). I know that the acient Greeks were aware of them and apparently the Egyptions as well.

Depending on the crystaline structure of various minerals, they will often lend themselves to being cut into die shapes. Heck, my mom once removed a gall stone from someone and the cholestoral had crystalized into a nice d20 shape. She said she would have brought it home for me if it wasn't biohazardous waste. I'm kind of glad it was.

Gross dude.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

Yah, that was my response too. But it does illistrate the point about crystal forms.

You were right, all the dice out there except the D10 are platonic solids, aka convex regular polyhedra.

If only they made a die that represented Metatron's Cube...
