hey i have just bought this stuff after doing my research into cygnar and have come up with this list:
its basically a delay list using Haley and have looked at it and think it would be very annoying/frustrating to play against

so:

Haley -58
journeyman warcaster -25
eiryss -29
centurion -113
lancer -76
long gunners x10 -104
sword knights x8 -74

=474 pts
modells - 23
victory points - 16 i beleive

any advice on how to make the list better/more annoying and any tips on how to play etc

I've got two ideas.

1) Add in Anastasia di Bray. She's a merc solo that costs 26 points and messes with your opponent's Advance Deploying models. She also gives you a leg up on getting the first turn. Downside is that she hasn't been released yet. She comes out in September. Her rules are in NQ#18.

2) Drop the Sword Knights for Trenchers. Spam smoke every turn and your opponent's army won't be able to even see you much less target you. Downsides are you lose your melee punch and more and more things are being released that ignore smoke (most notably all Legion warbeasts), so it's not as annoying as it used to be.

Trenchers are more expensive on the points than swordknights so body count would drop along with the melee power.

You could drop couple of the swordknight to fit the long gunner UA in there. The mini feat is annoying and fitting to your theme and the suppressing fire also enhances your options for denial/ board control.

You could drop eiryss and add gmca in her place. A merc gobber could find it's way to your list to give haley reroll with lucky charm.

In my experience - lists that are heavy on aggression are more successful in the longrun than denial type lists.

Things that jump out at me:

1. Centurion is slow. He has the stats of a Khadoran heavy, with 10DEF, 1 less speed and 1 less MAT than an ironclad. While he's 24ARM with arcane shield and a good anchor, Haley doesn't help him much with the speed problem or DEF problems. IMO, an Ironclad is cheaper, faster and more flexible (at the expense of durability), as it also has an open fist.

2. Remember that Haley's temporal barrier is a pulse and not an aura.

3. I think that Eyriss isn't so much of an auto-include in Cygnar lists, since she costs more than two stormsmiths, which apart from disruption, are as good (if less durable) in the same role.

4. I also feel that Stormguard > Swordknights due to reach. YMMV though - regardless, with any Cygnar melee units, it can't hurt to find points for the Piper of Ord, he turns good units into monster units.

500 points on the nose:

Haley
Ironclad
Lancer
Jr Warcaster
10x Long Gunners
8x Stormguard
2x Stormsmiths
Piper of Ord

Problem is that most vet players have tackled Haley multiple times now and know how to play against her.

Personally... I would go with a Defender instead of a Centurion, since you have some points to play with. Also, for sheer PITA (Pain In The A**) factor, Stormsmiths are great. Since you only need ONE of them to activate their attack, you can run two at each flank, normal move one up the middle, and DARE him to cross the line... muahahaha.
