Do they recieve the bonus for him being a MC? They entry doesnt say anything like bio-plasma does and I cant find it in an faq (although I am known to be blind). d3 extra str 5 armor ignoring attacks sound pretty sweet

Where is your saviour now?

Correct, they do get the bonuses.

Note that they get better in 5th as well. They require you to be in BtB with 4 (i believe) enemy figs to use, which in 4th ment you couldn't use them on the charge, since you had to charge directly into the nearest guy. In 5th they now do a Counter Charge, moving their guys in so you can get your tail into play.

I'd say the mace tail is the better upgrade. 1 hit at full strength vs. a variable number of half-strength, the sure thing wins... especially when you have to take toxin sacs to get str 5 (halves round down, so str 9 becomes str 4) and you have a good chance of being left with just 1 hit anyway.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

Nah, I like the Scythe. You only get it when you're fighting multiple guys, so I'd rather have the multiple attacks.

*shrug* Different preferences, I guess.

Now the second question is does it work in the first round of combat? It states in the entry in the codex that if there are 4 or more models in btb at THE START of the assault phase. So would that mean it only functions in the subsequent rounds of CC, therefore making it kinda lame either way?

I'm looking at toxin sacs with the scythe on a cc fex myself. The str10 will be better against monoliths and its 6 points to wound marines and the like on 3+'s with the scythe in cc.

The monolith is the ONLY case where the str 10 will make a difference... a lot to pay for slightly better utility against one unit, IMO at least.

As for the other... *shrug* I'll let the more legalisticly-minded among us parse that out.

This is incorrect unless they FAQ it. You have to START the assault phase in B2B with four or more enemy models to use tail attacks.

So I'd say tail attacks are even *less* useful than in 4th because combat tend to get resolved in fewer rounds (although not always, of course).
