this is one of my first lists and im aware of the 5th ed rules...this list is fluffy but im also trying to see if it will hold its own in competitive play

HQ:

Jain Zar (190)

Troops:
2x5 dire avengers (120)

Elites:
2x 5 wraithguard w/warlock witchblade no psyker powers...lack of points
wave serpents w/ tl starcannons (650)

8 howling banshees w/exarch executioner (150)

fast attack:
viper w/bright lance, holo field, spiritstone (120)

viper w/bright lance, holo field, spiritstone (120)

Heavy:
wraithlord w/starcannon, scatter laser (140)

im pretty happy with what i have...one problem i have is obviously the troops selection-easy to eliminate and only 2 scoring units but im thinking of having them escorted by the wraithlord to hopefully allow them to live longer...im willing to drop the vipers for something else but i have good success in using them as tankhunters...as for my elites i would like to leave them as is...and im sure there are things i have forgotten so any help would be appreciated

well jain zar is a bit price but her stats and weapons make up for that...also she tags along with the banshees to help in dealing some damage who will be supporting my 2 units of wraithguards

and as the waveserpents move the guards up the field they will be able to thin out units with the starcannons...and of course taking advantage of the speed it can move as well as cover

as i said in the first post i used the vypers as anti-tank and the wraithlord will move up the field and lay down some mobile cover as well as thining out units and have the dire avengers follow behind and finish the unit off

again im not too big on troops even though they are scoring units so i may have some trouble with that in a competitive environment

My suggestions:

Replace banshees with harlequins.
Replace bright lances on vypers with scatter lasers.
Pick a new HQ.
Put BL on the wave serpents.
Dump the wraithlord, get a falcon for the harlies or if running a large unit of them run a fire prism.

Echo. All good ideas in general. One thing that really glairs in your army is the vypers. I think they are tricked out with way too many toys for what they are. I would recommend that you save the points and strip them down to just their weapons...that and possibly swap the lances out for other weapons and mount lances on your wave serpents (if anywhere).
