start with black undercoat, then a base coat of gretchein green. use two separate washes of the new thraka green & devlan mud. doesn't matter which order. highlight with the gretchin green, remembering to thin done the paint quite a lot.
i've than mixed up a batch of gretchin green & rotten flesh to get a mid highlight tone then finish with rotten flesh.
next comes the magic. use thinned down inks (both new and old) to 'stain' parts of the flesh, using a damp clean brush to blend out the edges. i use reds, yellow, browns & greens for this.
for the metals, i always start off with tin bitz then drybrush up with bolt gun metal or brazen brass depending on which i want. for the iron i then will apply chestnut inks, washes of dark flesh then dapples of orange for rust. for the brass i'll wash with a brown/green ink mix then a very thin wash of vile green to get verdegree.
i'm currently doing a deathguard army for next weekends painting comp and will post my results the following week.
in the mean time heres a doombull (converted from the blood thirster) i did some time ago. the sword has thinned washes of green & brown ink, applied over and over until i got the desired effect -
and a bloat thrall -
btw can anyone recommend a pic hosting site that's faster than imageshack? have tried photbucket but i don't know how to share an album on a forum.
