Hey guys, looking over the new Daemons codex for 40k and decided on a Khorne themed army. I have a commission going for a converted Bloodthirster and I wanted to put him to good use. I came up with a fun army to play, I know it wont do so well against most armies, since it will be blown apart the turn after it arrives, but it will be fun to paint and play with.

Here is the list

Bloodthirster - A
250pts

Bloodletters x 10 - A
Icon
185pts

Bloodletters x 10 - B
Icon
185pts

Bloodletters x 10 - A

Bloodletters x 10 - B

Bloodcrusher - A
Icon
65pts

Bloodcrusher - B
Icon
65pts

Soul Grinder - A
Phlegm
160pts

Soul Grinder - B
Phlegm
160pts

Daemon Prince - B
Iron Hide
110pts

They way I have it set up is that you get an even force on the D6 before the game starts. I'll put the Bloodthirster first, and the Daemon Prince as the second. This way I still have a MC on the first turn to absorb some firepower. The Bloodcrusher are really just cheap icons, but, if they do survive, they can cause some damage to a smaller squad. The Soul Grinder is for a little control. He only hits 50% of the time, but it's worth it on the chance for the first turn. 46 models all together, heavy for close combat, only two templates, and not much for tanks. Let me know what you guys all think.

Sometimes you just have to let em' go...

2 things
1: Your troops do not have much staying power - this is a major problem
2: You have hardly any shooting - also a major problem

If you're looking at getting a 100% Khorne/undivided army, try and work a 2nd bloodthirster in, and the 3rd soulgrinder instead of the Prince. I would look at dropping a squad of bloodletters. With 2 thirsters they will draw considerable firepower away from your bloodletters, and the 3rd soulgrinder will help to fight armies with heavy armor. Just my 2 cents.

Aw, no magic number eight stuff? A shame...

I would drop the Bloodthirster entirely. They are grossly over-costed, because they have Daemonic Flight. 12" Movement isn't too important when you start 4" away from the enemy.

I kinda need the 12" movement, they took away sweeping into another unit after combat, so the added movement helps when your hitting flanks.

Only having a 5+ Invulnable really hurts the bloodletters, but like I said, it's only for fun. I could probably drop the squads down to 8, drop the Prince, and take the icons from the bloodcrushers to add another Bloodthirster. I'll just have to play test it some more.

The list looks quite good.
I like the concept of 2 equally strong army halves.
Keep the Bloodthirster as he will absorb a lot of heavy fire.
It's true that the Bloodletters don't have staying power, but its hard to get around the troop choice in a Khornate Daemon army.
Give it a try.
