Subject: Chaos Demons: Tzeentch Demon Prince Loadout?

Trying out Tzeentch demon princes for a 1750 point Tz list (somewhat fluffy), have a few points left. My question:
What do you give your Tzeentch demon prince (have 3) for its loadout (if anything)? At 1750 they seem more a cc support/absorb fire role, but i dont really want to make them exceptionally expensive.
1) After the mark giving them a 4+ invul, is it really worth it to give them iron hide for another 90 points? Only difference would be for heavy bolters/bolters/etc, but if those arent shooting horrors id think my opponent has other things to worry about...
2) Weapon wise, both gaze and bolt seem decent with a 2+ to hit, is it worth giving them both in 1750 or stick with one, and if so, which one? I have several other units with bolt, so its not a huge priority, but they are bs 3.
Thanks

I feel the tzeentch chaos demons are fine support units that can pitch into CC if required...but they aren't cheap.
I've found the 200 point version seems the most flexible/effective.
Mark, Master of Sorc, Bolt, Breath, and Gaze.
Lets you drop safely, target tanks and infantry...and if you get close, you can hit tanks with two anti-tank attacks or infantry with two anti-infantry attacks.
200 points is pretty pricey but it's essentially a walking tank.
They are not, however, hard to kill. T5 is a serious drawback, and iron hide won't really help much.

I stop before 200 points, for me I'd say MoT, BoT, Daemonic Gaze. Gives you 4 bs 5 ap >3 shots a round. Hang at long range and you can usually avoid the sort of dakka shots that would make you need Iron Hide.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

I assume you are talking about rapid fire weapons?
I think 5E is going to make alot of people think long and hard about long range firepower as a necessity, so I think it's quite possible in a years time having 10+ lighter long ranged weapons in an army and 8+ heavy anti-tank weapons will be alot more common than it is now.
Not disagreeing, just talking.

One of the benefits of beeng Tz is the master of sorcery so you can fire 3 weapons and by not taking them you are really not using your mark to the best. That will make the dp cost around 200 tho, so I dont quite like it myself. Just getting 1/6 better invuln save isnt all that but at least you save the points for getting the 3+ armour.

I totally agree, the advent of Orks will make heavy bolters and the equivalents vastly more popular. My contention is that the Daemon list will have multiple far more attractive targets for such shooting than distant Daemon Princes. The Heavy Bolters and equivalents will, I believe, be employed shooting down rushing assaulters or troops choices, rather than the comparatively sturdy DP's which aren't threatening to charge.

I'm curious, why weren't they popular before?
I've always run multiples of heavy and light weapons, served me quite well over the past decade.
I don't know about DP's being 'distant'. If they have wings, they are a threat immediately.
Toss in Pavane and it's dangerous to leave them alone, besides in a Demon list isn't taking lascannon shots at DP's better than taking lascannon shots at demonettes?

Now that I can finally speak from experience…
Since DPs can’t take We Are Legion, you have to shoot at the same target, so it seems like a waste of a lot of points to take both Gaze and BoT. The reason why is that you will either be shooting at Tanks and waste Gaze, or shooting at heavy infantry, and that is a lot of points for just one extra shot from BoT.
Since DPs now have BS 5, I would go with BoT. You want your DPs in assault where they can do some damage, but in the mean time, one shot with the Bolt will be fine until you get there.
I would take a DP with Mark of Tzeentch (or Iron Hide), Bolt of Tzeentch, and Wings.
