There's a difference between pinning and going-to-ground. Units may choose to go-to-ground against shooting. Pinning forces them to do so. So the rules making fearless models immune to pinning do not affect their ability to choose to go to ground. Of course my 5ed knowledge is sparse, there is probably more to it.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

You got it right winterman.

Pinning causes units to 'go to ground' but units can also voluntarily 'go to ground' if they wish, and Fearless units are no exception.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

I believe you can even expand this a little farther. Unlike 4th Edition fearless no longer prevents fallback. It was changed to just autopassing checks. So if there is a way to fallback voluntarily (not sure if there is) or that doesn't cause a check but makes you pinned or fallback (like the forgeworld infernus shells), you would. I don't think has a lot of game impact right now but it is a minor tweak worth remembering when new codexes come out.

If you think you are too small to have an impact, try sleeping with a mosquito.
