from ordo from the organizer
Hi gang,
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Gabriel Vega, the organizer for ConQuest NW game convention. As the Director of Convention Development for Avalon Game Conventions, I get to create cool and exciting gaming conventions up and down the Western United States.
We were very happy when
GW approached us about hosting an Indy
GT for the NW community. After a meeting in San Francisco with Drew, Swan from the
SF area, and my production manager Alexis Randall, we came to an agreement in principle, if you will, to run this event. Chris Ewick agreed to be the Tournament Coordinator for the
GT.
Going forward, I'd like to note that the only official announcements regarding the show, and the only person officially empowered to speak for the show is me. I do appreciate Chris' help...but his word is not gospel. Look to the website (and we will update that as we get new information and/or to correct errors along the way) for the best information. If you still have questions, then please send them via email to
conquestions@avalongamecon.com These come directly to us, and we can respond to these much more quickly, instead of trying to keep track of dozens of forums and yahoo groups. We'll do our best to keep up here...but best to contact us directly.
Some solid information...based on some of the questions I saw here earlier...
We like to have a good seven months to plan a show, and here we were in mid May at that point, with the traditional dates for ConQuest NW being in February. As it turned out, to make things work, we migrated from around Prez day weekend to MLK Jr. weekend (hence some of the confusion surrounding the dates).
ConQuest NW is a general gaming convention that is hosting the "ConQuest Seattle Indy
GT" next year on the weekend of January 16-18 at the Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport. The ink is so very dry on the contract with the hotel that the reservations people might not even know we exist yet. (In fact, I do not expect to receive our special group rates 'link' until sometime next week.)
As to this being a *real* Indy
GT...Drew assured us at the meeting that we would in fact be on the 'circuit' for next year.
In the next week or two, we should have a schedule completed for the 'main events'. Paint clinics, seminars, demos, et al, will be filled in as we continue to develop the show. The rules set we will utilize will be published in the coming weeks as well.
To play in the ConQuest Seattle Indy
GT 40K or Fantasy Battles event, one must purchase a "ConQuest Seattle Indy
GT Weekend Badge" through the website. A "ConQuest NW" badge will allow you to enjoy the entire game convention, but does not include entry into the
GT events, as is clearly explained on the registration page of the website. The
GT badge also affords the holder to enjoy everything else the convention has to offer.
And I will be adding "Ordo Fanaticus forum" to the answer of the 'how did you hear about..." question at registration.
Speaking of registration, there is not need to report to anyone the armies you are running or to reserve a spot for the event. The only way to do so is by purchasing your ticket online, and then answering the question about which event and what army as you purchase. And yes...if you want to change your mind...just ask us, and we'll see what we can do. No promises though...if
40K is sold out, and you want to switch from Fantasy to
40K the answer may be 'no'. So, choose wisely.
Once again, allow me to apologize for any confusion, but I jumped on this board as soon as I heard about the discussions taking place here, and at the ready for your questions populating my inbox.
Take care, and look forward to seeing you there!
