Gasp...no holo-fields.

Seems decent enough to me.

7 tanks.

Farseer makes the Guardian units killy versus infantry.

Prisms kill hordes and/or tanks.

Fire Dragons zoom down and punish elite units.

A glance 6 or a 4+ pen will kill your tanks, so if you really want holo-fields just drop a unit and you can pay for it.

Is this list for 4th edition or 5th? If 5th, why the underslung Shuriken Cannon on the Wave Serpents? Str4 defensive weapons means you can't fire it. maybe drop the Shuriken Cannons and maybe some Fire Dragons for Holofields? Squads of 6 work just fine for toasting tanks.

Same question: 5th ed?
Holofields are a must have for the Fire Prisms.
I like the idea of 2 squads of Fire Dragons for taking out nasties.
But I don't understand the reason behind your troop choice;
this 'troops-only scoring' thing gives me a headache.

The Wave Serpents have two guns because you'll lose one the minute someone shoots at you.

If you want to have a piece of crap after turn 1, by all means. Tank shock away. Zoom zoom.

I don't think holofields are a must have for fire prisms. Once they get penetrated, they lose their gun. Why waste the points?

Falcons with troops inside, yes--because the falcon is a troop transport and you want the troops to stay alive.

The wave serpent will run over cover, and drop the guardian unit in it. Cover saves for them, none for the enemy. Then they open fire, with re-rolls to hit and to-wound. I think it's suitably nasty to drive off MEQ, and against hordes it's a pain...especially if the wave serpent is in the way preventing slow movers from assaulting them. If you can't arrange that, then make sure you tank shock the enemy into 'flame me' formation and hit 'em with destructor. Re-roll to wound with properly clustered enemy troops under a flamer template = fun amount of dice rolling.

I thought if you are shooting out of cover, the unit you are shooting at gets a cover save too

I thought there are tank shock rules against av now... theory machine says s8 tank shock from 24".... by all means.. Zoom zoom, BOOM.

Sometimes you just have to let em' go...

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

nice list. I agree Fire Prisms are pretty good w/o holofields, especially when you don't care about victory points.

Maybe Autarchs and DA instead of Farseers and Guardians? Or Autarch + Seer + 2x DA. You can take Asurmen or Jain Zar, too.

A Farseer with RoWard is a must have since there are so many psykers out there in the 40k universe.
I think that 6 FDs per squad will be enough.

I haven't had a chance to see the complete 5ed rules. Will the farseer be able to doom/guide on the turn the guardians disembark? In other words, will the farseer be able to (1) cast powers from within the wave serpent, and (2) be able to cast powers on units embarked on the wave serpent?

I agree that holofields aren't necessary in 5th ed. In fact, they're pretty well overpointed. Skimmers can get penn'd in 5th ed, and a holofield won't save you from a pen. It will deflect a glance harmlessly, but it usually won't matter on a pen. Rely on cover saves and the super long range of the prism cannon, and you'll do fine.

On the underslung shuricannons, I'd drop them unless you really can't find another place for the points. It's nice to have another gun if you lose one, but don't waste points if there's something better to get.

As for the Guardians... Surely you realize that Dire Avengers, for a somewhat modest points increase, will do the same job as them much better?

And I question doubling up on the farseers. Your farseers are duplicating each other unecessarily. I'm all for redundancy, but two farseers to boost two Guardian Defender squads is massively ineffecient. When facing tough enemies like 'cronz or marines, your guardians (or Avengers if you take my advice) will want to gang up on a unit to wipe it out completely. Two dooms are therefore not necessary. Obviously you could doom another target, but since almost all of your guns aside from your Guardians are high S, Doom won't be much benefit. If you drooped one farseer, I think you could upgrade both Guardian units to DAs, and you would have a definite, mathematically obeservable increase in performance. Or so I would think...

And as people are suggesting, your FD squads could stand to be smaller. 40k is about trimming the fat! Don't use 10 where 6 would do. Also don't use 10 where 20 would do -- that's the cardinal rule of rushing things with shuricat fire (but I digress).

I was asked specifically to make it this way and make it work.

It's as good as I can make it.

I think DA are utter trash troops, and I enjoy seeing them in my opponents army because DA = win for me.

At least the Guardians can contribute against a vehicle heavy army, where DA do not.

Only if you are more than 2" deep in the cover.
