For 5th Ed, I'm planning one or two cheap Kommando squads designed to appear unexpectedly, find some 4+ cover if possible, then blow up a few vehicles or kill a few heavy weapon dudes before very likely dying themselves - hopefully after at least earning their points back. So, how to equip them?

A 5-ork squad with 2 rokkits for 70 points seems the cheapest and most cost-effective option for general anti-vehicle use.

Plus maybe another 5-ork squad with 2 burnas for 80 points, to target infantry and HtH vehicles if they get lucky? (I'm also considering a large non-kamikaze 15-ork squad led by Snikrot, would that be a better place for burnas?)

A Nob with PK would be a cool upgrade, but not really worth another 35 points (ignoring bosspole or 'eavy armour) in a 5-ork squad - and as with the burnas, I'm presuming my opponents won't often conveniently leave their tanks close to the table edge.

Or are there better uses for the limited Elite slots, or another unit to better achieve a similar tactical effect? Your thoughts?

if you want to just go tank hunting.. use deffkoptas. the scout move means they can "outflank" and come in from the table edge, move 12" then fire their TL rokkits 24". so 36" from either table edge (depending on the diceroll)

if you want to attack devestator squads and such.. then 2 burnas plus a nob w/ pklaw.

if you're going to take sniks, definately take the burnas since he doesn't have a powerwpn.

remember all assaults on vehicles resolve against rear armor, so even ork boyz are capable of hurting most vehicles.

don't get me wrong.. I love rokkits. but only 2 shots like that is pretty unpredictable and limits the squad to AT duty. the burnas are going to be better used.

i agree with naz.

a nob with a powerklaw and 2 burnas will probably do you better than 2 rokkits. most vehicles are more static with the change to the defensive weapon rules so your 4 S9 attacks from your nob auto-hit, rather than 2 S8 shots that hit on 5s. burnas will also help you cut up MEQ heavyweapon teams that are hanging around the back of the table.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?
