My nephew found out that there was a Chaos Dwarf army and has gone totally loco trying to find a way to build/convert an army of them. I told him a decent start would be one of the BfSP boxed sets as that would get him plenty of dwarf warriors for use as chaos dwarves as well as goblins for use as hobgoblins. Does anyone have any suggestions for quick easy ways to create some chaos dwarves with blunderbusses, sneaky gits, centaurs, earthshakers, hobgoblin bolt throwers and death rockets?

I had some success converting the multipart dwarfs with Chaos Warriors. You have to cut the Dwarf heads a bit and also shave off the backs of Chaos Warrior Helms to mesh the two together. Then some putty and filing makes them go together very well. I had some pictures somewhere of the conversions, I will try and find them.

Please do, as I'd live to see those conversions too!

I finally found the pics of a few of the conversions. Two Warriors and my Death Rocket (made from the plastic Dwarf Cannon and some Hellcannon parts). I am uploading the images to my Flickr account and I will post the links.

This is a Chaos Warrior head and weapon top, on the plastic Dwarf. I have used Marauder shields. As I mentioned, you have to shave the Warrior helmet and mesh it with the Dwarf after you cut off the face (but keep the Beard intact).

I have made a Blunderbuss model as well, but I don't have any pics of it at the moment. I will try and get some of these things painted up, so you can really see how they look.

Of course, it is in line with the "new" vision for Chaos Dwarfs, but still, I like it a lot!

Of course, some of it was easier before the Big Bitz Freeze of '08.

Yeah, they definitely require an extensive bitz box to pull off. Some Warrior boxed sets and a Dwarf battalion box will get so pretty far. The Marauder shields are harder to get unless you have some units built with Flails leaving you the extra shields.

The lack of Bitz these days is definitely painful! Thank god for 5 years of GW employment and way too many sprues and parts now to allow me to pull these kinds of things off! I know they aren't for the average gamer, as most people don't want to spend the money on 3+ boxed sets to make 1 unit!
