Alright gang, I'm working on my warboss in mega armour at the mo, and I'm painting in small sections and then varnishing to make sure I don't chip bits I've finished. I've just done the blades of the power klaw, but have reached an impass. How do I varnish the metallics without dulling them? I don't want them glossy, but matte takes the sparkle out. Does anyone have any tips, or am I just going to have to grin and bear it?

Ta.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.

One method which is used quite much is that you varnish before highlighting. The varnish then protects the base coats, but the highlights are not dulled by it.
