Given the rumors, I'm beginning to think that fielding as many creatures as possible is the best way to go:

1) Hydras appear to be powered up, but now cost considerably less.

2) Harpies can now use the general's leadership.

3) Psychology passes to the mounts, so cavalry and chariots get improved hitting power with Hatred.

4) Oh, and Hatred seems to work on Dragons.

Aside from giant piles of points reductions, does anyone see a reason to field infantry?

So you can run your old inky army before you buy the newer, useful, playable one?

I'm also thinking that massed xbows wouldn't be a bad idea, now that they do a bit more vs brets for example due ap. You just need to have some countercharge units in addition to the shooting and there's plenty of those (dragon & CoKs with hatred, hydra, etc.).

No matter how you look at it units of 20 spearelves at 7pts each with shields is too good to miss out on.
Interspace them with your monsters and you are ready to go. Frankly I would look at taking two Hydras, a Manticore hero, rest of character allowance for sorceresses then block after block of cheap infantry.

Cold One knights, corsairs and Black Guard go well in the mix, but I would leave the shooting at home. If you want to kill stuff at range let the sorceresses do it, all the rolled dark magic spells are attacks. Meanwhile let your monster & spearelf steamroller march on trampling over anything and everything in its way.
