Right. So the 5e things are about and raging.

I want some feedback one this slot mostly more than the rest having tested most basic models in at least one game.

Raveners. Sigh. I think I have seen one cause a wound. Three games, 5 Raveners. Not shocking, but I think I had really bad showing. Or maybe I hope so.

Winged Warriors. Shot down. Tried once. shrug.

Winged Rippers. Worked well, but mostly for a point/point basis. None survived the winged game - but that was nice, oddly they seemed just more expensive than leaping ones.

Spore Mines. I play 99% Bio acid. Mostly they seem as useful as even, with the VP thing having never come up for me personaly. Take that as you will. I have great mileage with them.

Gargoyles. Well, they do not change too much. But as the rare (Tyranid) unit capable of dealing with shooting and assaulting equally (not to say excellently!) they make very nice fodder and _cover_.

This is from about a half dozen games with a large variety of oppoents and tables. So even from my side I think it is not entirely correct.

What are thoughts, if any?

I don't understand what you are asking.

Are you asking for a review of these specific units in 5th? Well mostly it all depends on the list you are playing and what function each units is going to perform in that list. I don't believe in making blanket statements about the usefulness of units in a vacuum.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Raveners are good. Don't bother with a shooting weapon.

Winged Warriors are OK. Make them 100% close combat. In 5th they can't hide behind forests but they get a 4+ cover save, too.

I like winged rippers simply because I have them. I would never consider them for powergaming.

Spore mines are worth it. All types are good.

Gargoyles are just faster gaunts. Better to stick with hormagaunts, especially since they are Troop.

Raveners are more glass cannons in 5th. they are good if you deply them well and screen them well, otherwise they just get shot. as tacobake said, ranged weapons arent worth it on them.

winged warriors cost an arm and a leg. sure they get into combat quickly, but leaping is pretty much the same but 6 points cheaper.

Winged rippers: see above. you can give them leaping and toxin sacs and they are still cheaper then wings.

spore mine probably arent worth it in the long run

gargoys arent worth it either, just take more gaunts

if you must have fast attack have some raveners or some leaping rippers.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?
