So as I look through army lists, tactics, ect. I always see the mek boy with a KFF which i understand. Cover save for the boyz and only glancing for vehicles sign me up! But there is the other option of the shokk gun. 60" range, ordinance and ap2! I might be mistaken but i think you can move and shoot with it too. Only down side is the 2d6 str which leads to the potential of something going very wrong. It's a luck thing sure but with my experience with it (around four games) it's always paid for itself and helped allot when it came to taking vehicles or scary combat squads down. Yet with all this i never see it taken in army lists so whats up with that?

After serving in a 'big gunz' regiment Grots often loose their hearing and have to resort to a rudimentary system of sign language. This is rarely successful as there are only so many signs a Grot can carry.

Rule section for SAG states specifically it is treated as a heavy weapon for moving and assaulting purposes.

I'm not an ork expert but I think you see the KFF more right now cause in 4ed it is a fantastic boost to most ork armies. Since most ork lists run a warboss in one slot, there's only one slot left and that is invariably going to a KFF.

5ed may change that a bit, since the biker warboss is harder to hide and units can gain 4+ cover via various means you may see SAGs more often. Although 5ed the SAG will scatter alot more, which may turn people off to it.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

Another factor in 5th edition regarding the SAG is it can be picked out and shot at unless it joins a unit. Joining a unit can be tricky as you need to consider the synergy of the SAG shooting with another unit.

Having said that, I'm still painting one for my Orks. If it sucks after a few games, I can always swap him out for a Warboss.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

cover and screening will see fewer people taking KFF in horde armies, but it will stay about the same in KoS armies, which is fine because KoS dont really want static shooting anyway.

every single time ive ever seen a SAG used its brought a smile to my face, even if it doesnt do anything half the time. you can stick him with some lootas so he dooesnt get shot and he really bothers MEQs. its well worth it to have him to grovide some long ranged shooting to the rest of your army.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

The common config for the mekboy army locally is this:

SAG attached to grots (sit back). x19
KFF attached to grots (move forward). x29

4 ork boyz for horde effect. x30 ea

Add support for flavor.
