I am trying to make a 2000 point lizardmen army. I have Lord Kroak, a Skink Priest, Box of Skinks and 9 Chameleon Skinks. I have played very little whfb. I am not looking to win much, I just want to have fun. The total of this army so far comes in at 1596. (The Skink priest is level 2 but no other wargear has been added)

I have 404 points to fill up some holes with. My main question is...Does Kroak make his points back?

At 2000 points you will be booed off the table by your opponents.
Run him as a 4th gen slaan and buy:
A saurus character.
A box of saurus.
3-4 Kroxigor.
3 sallies or a stagadon.

Much more fun all round and a great base from which to branch out your army from...

yes kroak will win his points back, he's cheese to the max at those points mostly because he can do almost anything. here's an example of how good he is, at adeptacon during the tourney where losses to your army carry over rounds a guy had kroak and a 2nd gen slaan. at the end he still had kroak at full wounds and the other slaan at half. needless to say that guy won

IMHO a slaan should only be brought on the table in 3000+ pts just for fluff

Let's assume we run him in 2000. Is Kroak effective enough on his own that you don't need a saurus block with him? He's got those undead skink guys.

he has one skink with him. i think kroak is too much at 2000pts. as i said i don't think any slaan should be sed under 3000pts

Ridiculous Anecdote
My friend once ran Kroak + 2nd gen slaan in a 4000 point lizardmen vs ogres fight. Kroak called down Ruination of Cities and killed / paniced almost 100% of the ogre army off of the board first turn. He hasn't run Big K since.

I for one am against running Kroak, except maybe in FANTASY APOC games.

At 4000 points I'd run kroak, but he'd be the only slaan in the army.

I just can't justify him at anything less.

Of course if I was playing against kroak at 2000 points I'd have a general and 3 mages, all with 2 dispel scrolls to shut him down long enough to kill off the rest of the lizardmen army and then focus on him.

either that or run a large flyer (dragon) and attack kroak head on as every time i've seen him used it's been without the use of temple guard for him to go in. he may wipe you up with magic but he can't cast too much when he's in combat and a dragon will take him down.
