This army is annoying as to play against.

I've had difficulty beating this army, it's terribly shooty and with 5E making vehicles harder to kill...well, it sucks.

Especially the no-stun thing. Immobilized? Laughter...I swear.

5 Lascannons, 6 Missile Launchers, 11 Multilasers, 11 heavy bolters.

Why the ML? Kill more hordes with the blast auto-hit than you'd think.

You can of course get close to it, but then you add in the nearly 100 guard sitting in their cans...

There's a special place in hell reserved for lists like this. Great vs. Horde, enough diffusion for incoming fire against MEQ gunlines, and enough fire saturation to deal with low model count elite armies.

I like it, would hate to run into it in a tourney... but I think it'd be a nice challenge for a friendly game

Can you explain this? I'm a little slow. Crew Shaken and Stunned still effect troops inside the vehicle from what I've seen.

Also, how do you deal with armies heavy with flanking units? All those Chimerae take up a lot of space, and your line of shooty death can become a mess when you start getting rolled. Eldar with Scorpions and War Walkers would be an example.

on a 6" x 4" table (the suggested size for 40K games) even 11 chimeras doesnt take up much room. with flanking units, they may be able to destroy one tank before they are shot to peices by the rest of the army. they will also only be able to destroy one infanrtry squad before being shot to peices, what with the new consolidating rules and all.

Have you played Mech Guard before? A Chimera is 4" wide. Assuming you get a long table edge deployment zone and you have no LOS blocking terrain in your way, 11 Chimera's lined up chassis-to-chassis takes up 44" of linear space. Instant assault for any flankers. Also, your tanks block line of sight, so a properly positioned flanking unit is not going to get shot by a tremendous amount of local firepower. If you are moving Chimera (quite likely since a simple pivot will not work most of the time), you are at 50% fire effectiveness and your heavy weapons tucked inside cannot fire.

Once the hits the fan and you are assaulted, you are now in a reactionary mode and a clever opponent will have you reeling from this point on.
