Subject: Terminator Nerf in 5th edition?

So....let me break this down. In the Space Marines codices you have different entries for Terminator armor....
In Dark Angels you can move, shoot heavy weapons, and assault after firing heavy weapons and rapidfire weapons.
In the Black Templars book, you can move and shoot heavy weapons.
In the Marines and Wolves book, I believe you have no such options....
The wargear book does state you can move and shoot heavy weapons with Terminator armor....
So then, until an FAQ or new book comes out, all non Dark Angels terminators cannot assault after shooting heavy weapons???

Is the rule for charging after firing a heavy weapon as long as you could move and fire not in the new rulebook? They didn't have it in the codex before because it was rulebook specific.

Actually there is a new Universal Special Rule called 'Relentless' that mirrors the rules on page 36 of the 4th edition rulebook. I believe we'll see the FAQs that are due to be published with the release of the 5th edition rulebook give terminators (and a few other units) the 'Relentless' USR.

I don't see anything in the FAQ's that addresses this issue...
So for now, Terminators, other then Dark Angels, cannot fire heavy weapons and assault>???

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase. |

Well, GW didn't exactly do a very thorough job in its 5th ed FAQs and ignored real questions for just about every army. So, sadly, until it is done, SM codices just have to use the wording in their relative books. If it does not specify that the normal restriction for firing rapid fire weapons is ignored for assault purposes, then you cannot just assume this is the case. RAW is still RAW and assumptions are only guesses. Now, on a personal note, I know full well that the Relentless rule was specifically designed for terminators and all their ilk in mind. Therefore, I would allow anyone I played against to use that in regards to them and deem it a house rule, but each person is different on how far they are willing to bend.

Moz:
You: "Hold on, you rammed, that's not a tank shock"
Me: "Ok so what is a ram, lets look at the rules."
Rulebook: "A ram is a special kind of tank shock"
You: "So it's a tank shock until it hits a vehicle, and then it's a ram, not a tank shock, and then it goes back to being a tank shock later!"
Me: "Yeah it doesn't really say any of that in here, how about we just play by what's written in here?" |

There is no need for a FAQ entry on this issue, as terminators do actually have relentless. Check page 102 in Codex: Space Marines and page 61 of Codex: Space Wolves.
Sorry to bring back this thread, but I felt this was important.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k. Rule #1 - BBAP
