What can a HTH army do against a SAFH?

I just played a game of 5th, Guard vs. orks. I have to admit, I cringed whenever I got charged (old 4th ed reflex). But for the most part, I was content to let him kill off my sacrifice squads, and them pummel him piecemeal after the lambs were sent running. Not even a nobs mob can stand up to the lasgun spam of an entire platoon.

All well and good for a IG force, but what about my poor, poor Blood Angels. How do you take best advantage of CC? How do you guarantee you get two rounds of combat to safeguard your forces?

Charging multiple forces is the best thing I can come up with. Anything else?

I have found that my general fear of dying after winning combat is half right.

Keep units in pairs to give the cover saves. It is pretty easy to manage if planned ahead of time. So most units seem to weather the storm a little better for me. But the whole "swarm" thing is more needed as I see it. You need to hit a gunline with an assualt line.
Leaving units with LOS unengaged is asking for pain.

Assault multiple units with one unit to tie them up. (My money's on the 20 hormagaunts charging the 20 imperial guardsmen). Denied flank approach so at least some of the gunline can't even shoot for a turn.

At least that's how it's playing out in my mind before reading the rulebook.

Assault multiple units. Intersperse yourself for cover saves.

Assault multiple units. Bring lots of bodies.

Assault multiple units. Include cavalry or fleet units so you can do more than the Hurr 6+6 and hope ya get there dance.

Assault multiple units. Do not be afraid to eliminate speed bumps with your limited firing ability as a HTH army.

Assault multiple units. I hope the message is clear.

I think it was a gentleman named Adam, or Aaron. he was running a big mob of 30 boys, 1 mob of trukk boyz, nobz mob in a trukk, mech boy with KFF, two dredz, 2 kanz, a big mob of lootaz, and a big squad of stormboyz.

We played the scenario with an objective in each deployment zone, quarters deployment. He threatened to contest my objective in the last few turns, but never seriously. 4/5's of my platoon was still there at the end.

while (clearly) the first part is the crucial lesson to apply, the second is immensly true against some armies, and in particular IG. Remnants, single squads and Conscripts should be cleaned up by your shooting, allowing your assault elements to follow the prime directive. (assault multiple units)

Tau gunlines that play on forest-y boards and utilize Kroot as speedbumps will be frustrating, becuase it will be difficult to kill them with shooting. Atleast you'll have the cover save in these circumstances.
