try carefully using white glue (elmers) along the edges after the mini is finished. It will hold it in place and will dry clear.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

Plastic glue would *F* it up as bad as super glue (AND not work).
Mr. Carlin has the right idea... AFTER painting and mealing the mini, use white glue to hold it in place.

You CAN use superglue, but you have to be extremely careful with the quantity used, AND use a fume extraction hood.

I'll take a stab in the dark and say you don't have access to a pro-modelmaker's workshop setup, so I'd go with a white glue (elmers, I guess - we don't get it here - or just pva.)

UHU glue would work and be a litle stronger than PVC, superglue will work if you're very careful, I've gotten away with it before now.
