I think I'm going to do some Chosen models just for fun pretty soon. But I also want them to have a purpose too. I think I need them to do some kind of armored vehicle hunting and just general killing of the back lines kind of squads. What weapons should I deck my Chosen out in? I was thinking Plasma guns or melta guns but I really have no idea what would be best given infiltrate and outflank now.
Edit: I've been thinking about a 5 man squad with 5 meltas or plasma guns. The meltas would be more of a tank busting thing. I've had trouble with tanks hiding in the back killing my stuff. I could also give them a IoCG to deep strike to and to reroll morale, because they will be making it quick.

This is obvious, isn't it?
If you want to go tank hunting, give them meltaguns and meltabombs.

Will meltabombs be that useful? I just get to roll 2d6 on my S to break through the armor with their base 4 S. To bust into Armor 12 I need two 4s. But how often will my Chosen be in CC with armor? And with Meltas and Meltabombs they cost 33 points a piece.

Meltabombs roll 8+2D6 for penetration.
Also, you don't have to give them all Meltaguns and Meltabombs.

nurglich is correct they roll 8+2d6 armour penetration, i dont know where you have been reading it differently.
chosen are expensive, so cant get around that, so whetever you end up doing is likely to cost you an arm or a leg.
5 chosen is too little. if you give them all special gear then you will lose too much when they get shot, if you dont then they wont be of any use. really you need about 10 just so you have some ablative wounds.
if you have 5 melta guns, melta bombs are unnecessary. 5 plasmas is ok for killing MEQs. either way they are still very expensive and will get shot.
there isnt much point putting icons on them because you dont get much benefit for that point cost, if your looking at them shooting rather than in combat.

with scouts being able to scout in their transports (whether during deployment, or flanking) does the same apply for infiltrators? obviously i cant see any transports infiltrating during deployment but if they could be used while flanking, chosen with 5 plasmas in a rhino comming on from an edge might actually be less terrible. i havent had a chance to read that section of the 5th rule book, so could anyone clarify this for me?

I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I like the two or three meltaguns + a power fist combo. I also like the 5 plasma combo.
I think there are better anti-tank units available. But the versatile infiltrating squad is useful I think.
If Stelek was here he might say something about Las/ plas. But he is NOT, is HE??!?!? HAHAHAHAHHA.

If you wanna run 5 man, you better only run something like 2 melta guns. Esp with the new wound allocation. Melta bombs will also always go to the rear armour of non walker vehicles if you wanna try to go for HtH. They are usually to expensive and fragile for that tho.
Personally think a 5 man with a ML and an icon is about that you can get out of them. At least if you got some deepstriking stuff that can use them as an anchor unit. 5 flamers is also pretty funny and quite cheap.

It's not that I'm having Anti-Tank trouble. I know what units to use against tanks ( PFs, Oblits, and DPs), but I've been having a lot of trouble of tanks sitting all by their lonesome on the back line while a huge screen of something else blocks my way of getting closer to the tanks that are laying down long range fire on me.

Take 3 meltaguns and 2 flamers. The knee-jerk reaction is to give them 5 of something, but really 5 meltaguns is so overkill. If you play a horde list of all infantry models, then your chosen unit with 5 meltaguns is not very good. Give them 3 meltaguns to perform their primary purpose, hunting tanks in the backfield, then give them 2 flamers (only 10 pts) in case you play against that all Ork/Guard/Guardian list where five meltaguns just doesn't cut it.

With infiltrate in every scenerio chosen just got better. Melta guns are the way to go or you can rely on plasma, you get twice the shots and an infiltrating unit can get side armour shots easier. However I personally would go with the melta.
