1 10xman Tactical Squad with heavy bolter and meltagun, Vet SGT with power fist, Rhino with extra armor
1 9xman Tactical Squad with heavy bolter and flame thrower, Vet SGT with power fist, Rhino with extra armor

2 8xman Assault Squads with 2x plasma pistols and Vet SGT with power fist

1 8xman Devastator Squad with 4x heavy bolters
1 8xman Devastator Squad with 4x missile launchers

Its configured as a standard space marine company 6 tactical 2 assault and 2 heavy squads

The Captain rides with the 9xman tactical squad

Ill use the rhinos to ferry squads as needed.

Lame... don't give a heavy and assault weapon to a squad, they ALL need PF sergeants, the Captain is worth upgrading to a Master for +1 wound, his wargear choice is awful and he will die real fast, because he should generally be in CC and Tac squads don't belong in CC. You don't need Lascannons on Tac squad, leave them to Devs or Preds.

Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Me? No. But OP, you need PFs for when those dreads and HQs charge you.

The army looks quite good.
However, every high strength weapon of the enemy will go against the Rhinos.
If you take two of them you better take some more tanks in order to dilute heavy enemy fire.
Basically take them as counterstrike units or a careful flank attack supported by the Assault Marines.

I suggest making the 8 man tac squad another 6 man las/plas squad and using the left over points to give the Captain a jump pack. You might have some more fun that way. Also, I believe Rhinos with smoke launchers are a must-have--especially in 5th.

If he needs PFs on his shooting units, then his shooting can't prevent the assault from being unfazed by tar-pitting. IMO he has enough shooting, but of course he can be outshot and left with a tattered and not-so-effective firebase. But what kind of army can shoot the crap out of him and then follow up with an assault to leave him kicking himself for not having more PFs? Trying to think of lists that can make his infantry hurt in both the shooting and assault phases...off the top of my head I'm thinking: Marines with 3 vindicators and terminator assault squads/dreads with CCW and assault cannons; Eldar buzzing around with starcannons and harlies; Nids with shooty carnifexes and/or zoanthropes; Orks with a kan wall, a mega-armor nob squad, and enough shootas and rokkit launchas to make you reroll all your dice a few times... So the orks won't shoot you apart, but you gotta give them something for all that dakka.

Anywho, I don't think more PFs are going to tip the scales in his favor enough for the two I1 S8 attacks he'll get per sergeant, and the points are probably better spent on some more shooting IMHO--like another Tac squad.

If you know why the power fists in the fire base are points better spent, I would like to know. I've been wrong before, and I always love to learn new things.

I think he can get away with just the two Rhinos. If they get shot, that's less fire going into his infantry--which can hope to run well. And if every high strength weapon does go into the Rhinos, the marines are happy, right--at least for a turn? They would be an expensive distraction and mobility would be a real issue sure, but isn't safety in numbers a viable alternative to having enough armor to absorb the shooting? Or do you disagree?

or for approaching the enemy along a flank.
