Okay so the general idea is a completely rag tag imperial guard army for mainly urban fights. I want it to feel kind of last stand like, as though the governor etc has pulled out all the stops... so far thinking of the following but very much open to more ideas.

Its also meant to be an army i want to do alot of work on, and most of all have fun with so not to bothered about it being great when it comes to battles.

Command squads - Well want the HQ to be a mixture, i think the Ursarkar Creed model would really suit a governor type role. Then i would want to mix it in with a few other officer types. Maybe a steel legion officer (counts as commissar for stats) to represent the PDF commander. Then either Mordian iron guard or vostroyans as a kind of poshly painted palace guard.

Then i think for the platoon command squads i will stick to Steel legion minatures

Steel legions where going to form the bulk of the squads to, something about them just makes me think they make good PDF troopers, painted wise i will keep them very simple and quite dull with some variations in colour of equipment and the like to mix it up a little.

Conscript platoons are going to be a must, and i think for these a mixture of necromunda ganger miniatures and EM4 future skirmish savages, scavengers and bikers (any other suggestions here welcome) also think i will mix in a few PDF troopers to look like they are keeping the rest in line.

I wanted to put a couple of armoured fist squads in to, painting up the chimeras in almost police colours and then having iron guard painted up in police colours trying to represent local law enforcement.

Then for storm troopers, i am a little torn on this one... not sure what to do, i quite like the idea of using necromunda enforcers modelled with appropriate weapons. Either that or i would use the enforcers above instead of iron guard and for storm troopers use Urban Mammoths viridians

Sentinals, well i think these would be rather basic battered PDF looking apart from one which i would have to do the bright yellow construction vehicle thing looking like it had been quickly retrofitted for combat.

Ogryns would be heavily modified ogre kingdoms models to look like servitors

Rough riders, would love to model these as some horrible mix of local nobility to look out of place next to the rest of it. Empire outriders heavily converted would seem best here.

Then any tanks would have to be very plain, no side sponsons or the like just looking as basic as they can.

So that would be the general idea kicking around in my head, and yes i know it will look like a right mess of mish mash but that is what i am going for. But if any one has any ideas please fire away...

This is what I'm using for my conscripts. Pig Iron Rebel Kolony heads on plastic cadians. I'm also carving bullet holes, etc in my hard armor to represent it being scrounged/ reissued to the cannon fodder. It's also a good look for vets.

I've done a few squads for guardsmen in a similar "final defense' concept* and it looks cool. The main thing, for me, is to pick a couple of colors to unify the force so it looks like a hodge-podge but still shows some unit.

Many of my recruits are Necromunda models purchased when you could buy the Lasgunners individually. Now I'd have to get lucky on purchases, so the cost would be a bit higher.

(* Technically, the background for my force is that it has two components: A group of hardened guardsmen who specialize in training militias and the recently recruited hive gangers and other scum they've put on the front lines. I lean towards heroic more than brutal, so they're all heroes making a last stand to defend their world.)

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.
