I started playing again after about a 5 year break and i was just hoping for some advice/feedback on the army lists im using.

I think id take another 12 skinks if i had the models over a priest and i put in the Blood Statuette of Spite in an attempt to eat dispel dice but yeah im new so it could be the wrong item/idea.

too many points spent on skink priests. one is good enough. you should finagle points around to put a scar vet into your saurus block. also drop one sallie and get another skink unit of 10 and make the other skink units 10 man. also make the kroxies go into one unit of 4 and drop the other 2 the then get another unit of skinks. basically you need more fighting stuff, less big things (like the steggy) and way more skinks. in my 2250 list i have 50 skinks. if you could i'd drop the steggy to make the saurus block into a unit of temple guard as they do way better than the saurus

also forgot to say before that normal saurus units cannot take magic banners. so you'll have to drop that right off the bat

lol thanks for the feed back, had a game down the games workshop yesterday and nobody said anything about the banner

iv played about 5 games total in the last week or so with a different army list and i can rarely get a spell off and when i do it just feels like spending 550 points on a slann and a priest is a waste.

my tactic with castings is normaly to use 2 dice on a fireball to open with then followed by 3 power dice on another spell and my last 2 on another. Sometimes i roll 5 on a big spell after the fireball too.

I only have 5 turns and when the other player had 4 scrolls it feels like im just not landing anything :S

A friend said i should try using magic items to force out dispel dice too.


P.S in one game i rolled double 6 and got a pit of shades off on a huge unit of dwarf ironbreakers and it was really messy, but thats the only time iv seen magic worth its points)

Bastirious is a much more experienced player than I, but I cannot see dropping sallies. Call them a crutch. Call them broken. Call them highly effective for their points costs with further uses crawling out of the woodwork every game.

I feel your pain about magic, but in my area we see armies that have sick numbers of dispell dice. Magic items is a good idea.

i say only drop one sally. units of one sally people kill for quick points, units of two get a little less attention as they are harder to kill (but still do lots of damage), and units of three eat it from every warmachine and shooting unit the other player can pull out.

the different unit sizes are all based on player uses for the sallies. yes three can be brutal but in all truth they are more used for a pin cushion and distraction for enemy shooting.

the two size unit (which i use two of) is the one really for taking out enemies, as they are easier to maneuver and far easier to keep out of charges, etc.

if you want better magic phases give one skink the diadem of power. then he can have two more power die to tie up opponent dispel die on things like the comet, so use him first. grated that takes two of your dispel die away, but you can do it the other way to and have the two extra dispel die. I use a skink priest with the diadem (as i have no slaan) and against low magic armies i use the dispel die as power die to overwhelm them with magic, and against high magic opponents i use the power die that won't matter as dispel die giving me a total of 6 dispel die each turn and two scrolls to take down enemy spells, and that's with only two level two casters.

Complete change of the army list now after hearing what you had to say.

This list is just basic, i will most likely try and fit some spawnings on the saurus blocks a little later but id love to hear what you think about it now.

P.S its 2000 point replica of your army list lol

This is one of my favorite Lizardmen builds, i think it really epitomizes their best tactic: close range firefight leading to a brutal finishing charge. This isnt going to be the most straightforward army, and you will need to get good at guessing short ranges as well as setting up countercharges when your skinks flee from the opponents charge. Once you get that down i think you will find it very powerful.
As for Sacred Spawnings i would go for for +1 attack on charge, as your saurus are the hammer of your army and should be able to get the charge with all those skinks screening. Im not sure how it goes in England but most tourneys/games played here are at 2250 points, in which case i think a stegadon would be the perfect addition to complete this force.

In regards to the point games in uk, im quiet new but it does seem a lot of people play 2k here.
